Press release from the issuing company
Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade
Totalpost Services Plc granted Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade for their impressive growth in manufacturing and exporting over the last 3 years.
The company, which has offices across the UK, in Europe and the US, were selected because of their accelerated growth within the franking machine ink cartridge production industry for which they are now one of the leading manufacturers of compatible and remanufactured ink cartridges in the World.
Key to the success in gaining the award were figures which showed that in 2011 export sales increased 31% and in 2012 they increased again by a staggering 44%. The company achieved this largely because of their ethos of providing the highest quality of product coupled with outstanding customer service.
A major turning point for the company, instigated by Managing Director David Hymers, was the decision in 2011 to take the ink cartridge manufacturing process completely in house at their Cumbria manufacturing base. Here, an own filling line was developed to complement the existing in house design and software team.
This allowed the company to take full control of the testing and quality of the products and have better management over delivery times. This has led to Totalpost becoming known as a supplier of choice and reliability in this marketplace.
Coupled with this, Totalpost has gradually developed a strong in-house exporting team that have been instrumental in researching and understanding key international markets for the company thus accelerating the export growth.
Additionally, hardware sales of mailroom machines and X-ray screening equipment for threat detection in mail, parcels, baggage and freight; maintenance services and furthermore mail processing services for in-bound and outbound mailings as well as returned and gone-away mail data cleansing all add to growth and further exporting opportunities.
Speaking about the success, Managing Director, David Hymers comments: “Totalpost’s growth would not have been possible without the phenomenal team that we have. We brought manufacturing in-house creating our own production process right through from coding to final product labelling. We carefully researched our markets and customers and above all else worked incredibly hard. I am delighted that the efforts of all staff have been recognised through this award.”
Furthermore, Totalpost is continuing to make significant steps both at home and overseas. Since submitting the award submission the company has opened an office in France and is in the process of opening a further office in Germany, further expansion in the US, where the company already have an office, is also planned.
On the back of the success of the cartridge manufacturing Totalpost has been able to expand into other markets. Significantly they are now the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor of Astrophysics X-ray threat detection equipment for mail, parcels, baggage and cargo to mailrooms, freight companies, public and large corporate buildings, prisons and courts, and have an excellent blue chip customer base which is constantly developing.
