Press release from the issuing company
Thanks to its unique combination of highly creative design, splendid finishing and unique photographs, this year's VIP calendar from Agfa Graphics appeals to people all around the world, living up to its 'Print Inspires Print. Day After Day' name. This became evident once more when on March 20th, it received the 'Prize Awarded by the Public' in the prestigious Dutch 'Kalenderwedstrijd' (calendar contest). During the graphic trade show 'Grafische Vakbeurs', which took place in Gorinchem (the Netherlands) in February this year, visitors could vote for their favorite calendar. Nearly 1000 of them did so. Agfa Graphics greatly values the votes of these graphic professionals and is very proud to be the winner in this category. Earlier this year, the VIP 2013 calendar was already nominated amongst 1200 international calendars for the well-respected Gregor - International Calendar Award in Germany. Both the nomination in Germany and the award in the Netherlands are considered recognition of the underlying Power of Print message of Agfa Graphics' calendar.
The VIP Calendar 2013 is a sample of diverse prepress, printing and enhancement techniques. Every page was printed on a different substrate, often using special inks, such as metallic ink or sand ink. The finishing of the calendar also appeals to one's imagination, with for example the use of laser-cutting, UV varnish or a Japanese folding technique. The calendar takes its name from the unique booklet called Print Inspires Print that Agfa Graphics created for drupa 2012, focusing completely on the theme of sustainability. All images of the calendar fit into the sustainability theme too. Last but not least, it is interesting to note that the Agfa Graphics 2013 VIP Calendar was a joint effort of the entire Agfa Graphics community, as it is a compilation of the thirteen best images that were submitted for a photo contest which ran through the worldwide organization.
