Press release from the issuing company

Hershey, PA USA (America East) – 22 March 2004 – Once again, Agfa customers took the top prizes in this year's quality printing awards competition at America East. Agfa is pleased to congratulate Journal Register Company (Trenton, NJ) and The Record (Hackensack, NJ) on their wins in the eighth annual America East Print Quality Contest. Journal Register Company's newspapers took prizes in several categories, including several first place honors, while The Record also captured first place in its category. Both companies use Agfa prepress equipment in the production of their newspapers. Five of the Journal Register Company's newspapers were honored: two in the "Under 25,000 Circulation Offset" category and two others in the "25,000-50,000 Circulation Offset" category as well as one in the 50,000-100,000 Circulation Offset category. In the 25,000-50,000 category, the Daily Local News (West Chester, PA) took first place while The Mercury (Pottstown, PA) took second place. In the "Under 25,000" category, The Times Herald (Norristown, PA) captured first place while the Main Line Times (Ardmore, PA) took third, and finally in the 50,000 to 100,000 category, The News Herald (Willoughby, OH) captured the second place prize. Four of the five prestigious awards won this year by Journal Register Company were produced by its new state of the art production facility, Journal Register Offset, Exton PA. "It is an honor to be recognized and held in such high regard by one's peers. Clearly, our decision to use Agfa's :3850 Advantage CTP systems, workflow and :N91 plates was based on their reputation for quality, reliability and responsiveness. However, after winning the Best of Show, plus 3 additional quality awards at last year's America East Print Quality Contest, we knew we made the right decision. And now, winning 4 awards again this year proves that Journal Register Offset and AGFA are truly partners in quality," said Gary Coppola, general manager, Journal Register Offset. The Record, meanwhile, took first place honors in the "Over 100,000 Circulation Offset" category. The Record uses Agfa's film, plates and workflow products, and ten :3850 CtF systems. "We don't take quality for granted – we work hard at what we do here, and we demand the same of our equipment. We have been loyal Agfa customers for years and they have never let us down. It is gratifying to know, in this day and age of the Internet and other new methods of communication, that the printed page still is important to many people," said Rich Pandelo, manufacturing quality assurance manager, The Record. "We chose Agfa because we need a supplier we can depend on today and beyond." An Agfa customer also took the Flexo Division award. The Concord Monitor (Concord, NH) uses Agfa's :Alliance HN Film on two :Avantra 25XTS imagesetters.
