In the demonstration area of JDF Parc, attendees can visit 19 system demonstration pods hosted by CIP4 member companies and featuring a comprehensive suite of JDF applications. Participating companies include: Adobe Systems, Inc., Agfa-Gevaert, Creo, Inc., Dainippon Screen, Dalim Software, EFI, Enfocus Software, Esko-Graphics, Global Graphics Software, Ltd., Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, HIFLEX GmbH, LithoTechnics Pty Ltd., MAN Roland, Inc., NovaVision Software A/S, Ocè, Optichrome Computer Systems Ltd., ppi Media GmbH, QuadTech, Inc., Tharstern Limited, Vio Worldwide and Wam!Net, div. of Savvis Communications. A number of other CIP4 member companies will offer educational presentations and literature. JDF Parc is the result of a partnership between CIP4 and Messe Düsseldorf that will in effect make drupa 2004 “the JDF drupa” – a global event heralding the advent of JDF and process automation in the graphic arts industry. Located in Hall 4 (Booth A33), JDF Parc will offer drupa 2004 attendees the most up-to-date information on the JDF standard through presentations, product literature, and JDF workflow demonstrations. In the main theatre area of JDF Parc, an “Introduction to JDF” will be presented several times daily. Other presentation topics will include: ‘How to Automate Your Prepress & Production Planning with JDF,’ ‘Overview of JDF Installation in Practice,’ and ‘Why JDF? How JDF?’ among others. These presentations will also feature user case studies of pioneering prepress and printing companies who have implemented JDF environments. “All visitors to JDF Parc will be invited to participate in a JDF demonstration experience,” said CIP4 executive director, James Harvey. “When they arrive, they will be issued a ‘job ticket,’ a card with a unique identification number and space for 12 punches. Visitors will then go to any of the job initiation pods within JDF Parc to begin their ‘job.’ At each station they will receive another punch and the unique identifier will be used to track their job’s progress from station to station. Completed ‘job tickets’ will be entered into a raffle for prizes that JDF Parc visitors may win. What better way to fully grasp the impact that JDF can have on your workflow?” Additionally, Messe Düsseldorf and CIP4 will also collaborate on producing a “JDF Roadmap,” which highlights all of the booths at drupa where JDF product support is being exhibited. “Drupa 2004 and specifically JDF Parc, will offer drupa attendees a full schedule of educational and informational demonstrations and presentations featuring JDF workflow,” said CIP4 marketing officer, Margaret Motamed of EFI. “JDF Parc will be a reflection of the high level of cooperation and collaboration taking place among members of CIP4 Working Groups as we collectively work toward JDF adoption.” Drupa 2004 is scheduled for May 6-19, 2004 at the 17 building Messe Düsseldorf facilities in Düsseldorf, Germany. Drupa is the forum for the world of print, media and paper; this print media fair covers all phases of pre-press, pre-media and printing as well as paper converting, print processing and much more.
