A prototype of the KBA RotaJET 76 inkjet web press was well-acclaimed at its unveiling at Drupa 2012 and it will be the focus of the KBA evening at Druckforum 2013 on 1 February in Filderstadt, Germany.

Only 10 days later this high-volume press, which has undergone many technical advancements to its features since its premiere at Drupa, can be seen live at the Hunkeler Innovationdays from 11 to 15 February in Lucerne, Switzerland. Here the press will be producing book sections, newspapers and other full-colour print products in a high print quality, which has improved greatly since May 2012.

As a globally well-known manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset presses, KBA now offers a solution for the growing digital print market with the fully-operational RotaJET 76, developed and produced at its main plant in Würzburg. Even at Drupa the RotaJET’s superior engineering was a keen focus of interest. Following intensive talks with potential new users, optimisation efforts made to the ink feed, ink system, screening and drying systems ensure that the inkjet web press now delivers the excellent print quality expected of one of the most prominent printing press manufacturers. Visitors to the Hunkeler Innovationdays will be able to see this with their own eyes. In Lucerne the RotaJET will be in operation equipped with a newly developed KBA dryer and rewinder, plus for the first time it will be using a new generation of polymer-based inks. The finishing of the printed web will take place on a postpress system from Hunkeler.

At the KBA evening on February 1 visitors to the Druckforum in Filderstadt will receive a taster of what KBA has in store for the Hunkeler Innovationdays. Here KBA digital printing experts, Oliver Baar and Klaus Eppich will present technology, workflows, a range of applications and possible lines of business related to the RotaJET 76. Differences and interfaces to offset printing will also be in focus. The event will be moderated by KBA marketing director Klaus Schmidt.
