NEW YORK--March 10, 2004-- IKON Office Solutions, Inc. and EFI today announced an enhanced version of IKON DocSend(TM), a document capture and distribution solution powered by EFI technology and developed exclusively to support IKON's expansive best-in-class product portfolio. The result of ongoing collaborative efforts between IKON and EFI, IKON DocSend version 2.0 enables improved information sharing, whether among an organization's employees and departments or businesses and their customers and suppliers. Not only are documents immediately available via e-mail, ftp, online repository or through a fax server, DocSend delivery capabilities offer significant cost savings compared to traditional delivery methods.
Along with heightened security features and robust administrative tools, the latest version of IKON DocSend offers customizable buttons and user interface components that can be modified to meet customers' unique document delivery requirements. In fact, "DocSend for You" capabilities can be matched with mission-critical or frequently used business processes to simplify employee operations and streamline document distribution tasks. The end result is a tightly integrated, highly automated workflow that pushes information quickly to its intended audience.
Based on customer needs, IKON's Professional Services organization can design and implement a custom "DocSend for You" solution. For example, by adding a "DocSend To Accounting" button, IKON can help a business instantly and easily route invoices to expedite the payment cycle. An additional benefit of this digital scanning, distribution and storage workflow is its ability to support compliance regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley with an audit trail of data access and delivery activities.
"As a growing number of businesses across virtually every industry seek to leverage the benefits of digital document delivery, IKON is well-prepared to meet their needs with what we believe to be the most powerful yet easy-to-use solution on the market today," said Cathy Lewis, Senior Vice President of Marketing, IKON Office Solutions. "IKON DocSend maximizes customer investments in technology across the enterprise by fueling fast and convenient electronic information sharing - and that can be a significant competitive advantage in today's fast-paced business climate."
"Working closely with IKON, EFI has made some significant upgrades to DocSend to meet the needs of demanding users. We're confident these new features and capabilities will be just what customers require to further enhance the usability, speed and convenience of their digital document solutions," said Michael Chai, Vice President, EFI Enterprise Solutions Group. Technology-independent IKON DocSend offers a PC-style user interaction and plug-and-play convenience with IKON's lineup of best-in-class copiers, multi-function peripherals and TWAIN-compliant products from manufacturers such as Canon and Ricoh.
IKON DocSend is designed to allow users to scan pages in full color, grayscale or black-and-white, and preview the digital files as thumbnails or full-page images in PDF, TIFF or JPG format using a large, intuitive touch-screen interface. Personal annotations can be made at the IKON DocSend station, before documents are sent to multiple sources, including e-mail addresses, FTP sites, connected copier/printers and document repositories. Alternatively, users can leverage the "DocSend to Me" function for one-touch scanning that automatically and immediately sends documents directly to their inbox for future retrieval or editing from any e-mail enabled workstation.
Enhanced administration tools allow centralized management, either locally or remotely, of multiple DocSend solutions on the network, while advanced accounting capabilities automatically track and report user activities. In addition, optional 128-bit encryption and login authentication help ensure only authorized users access DocSend files.
The latest version of IKON DocSend also provides litigation support for law firms and corporate legal departments through the availability of Digital Bates Stamping to track critical case documents.
