Keeping It Simple with Print and Digital from the Same Source
Efficient workflows in cross-media publishing figured prominently in discussions at the international user conference vjoonity.
The seventh installment of vjoonity, the publishing industry's international vjoon K4 user conference, took place in Hamburg on October 26, 2012. The motto for the get-together – Print & Digital: Managing Two Sides of the Same Coin – provided the perfect cue for distinguished national and international speakers to talk about current market trends and hot industry topics. This year more than 160 participants from 12 countries took part in the user event staged annually by vjoon GmbH, one of the leading providers of cross-media publishing platforms. Discussions centered on the latest developments and emerging challenges in the publishing market. Customers such as Burda Digital Systems, Condé Nast USA, and Rodale presented compelling user stories. One of the most talked-about topics was the new version of vjoon K4 software. Slated for release before the year is out, the upcoming version of the cross-media publishing platform has been updated extensively with a host of new features. Visitors were treated to an exclusive preview of the many innovations to come in vjoon K4. Highlights of the next version include a new thumbnail view, which provides a clear preview of publication's individual components and even includes searchable meta data. With this update, multichannel workflows will be even easier to configure and handle. The presentation also afforded visitors an in-depth look at the platform's link to Adobe DPS, which has been optimized further to take tablet and smartphone publishing to a whole new level of automation.
Andreas Schrader, CEO of vjoon, says, "vjoonity is the most important user event of the year for us. It has become a world-class forum for users, partners and us to share insights. We can talk to our customers about issues that matter most in their day-to-day publishing efforts, and show them how they can use vjoon K4 to master upcoming challenges, efficiently and to their business model's best benefit."
Speaker Scott Protchko from Rodale, USA, noted, "For me as a customer it was very interesting to exchange my experiences with other users at vjoonity. The topics highlighted several ways publishers are gaining advantage by using vjoon K4. We saw how vjoon K4 will continue to enable the change publishers are seeking. We look forward to participating next year."
"This year's user conference proved to be a real international networking event. I took away many interesting approaches and ideas for my company and made some good new contacts. I look forward to next year," says Felix Signer of galledia, Switzerland.
A second stateside vjoonity is just around the corner. It will be hosted by Managing Editor Inc. (MEI), the exclusive vjoon integration partner for America, on November 16 in Philadelphia, USA. MEI's Pro Pub Summit caters mainly to users in North and South America.
