Tufco Technologies, Inc. Adds Six Sigma Quality Leader

GREEN BAY, WI (February 23, 2004)--Tufco Technologies, Inc., announced today the hiring of Lester R. Smith to lead the company’s initiative in Six Sigma process quality implementation.
Tufco’s Green Bay’s manufacturing facility, already ISO 9001:2000 certified, intends to build even further on its excellence in manufacturing with the new Six Sigma practices which will be instituted throughout the plant.
Lou LeCalsey, President and CEO stated, “Les Smith brings over twenty years of manufacturing experience, leadership in developing and working in ISO environments, and certification as both an ISO internal auditor and Six Sigma Black Belt. His background also includes a degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University and technical experience as a Process Engineer and Technical Manager in various manufacturing environments. His proven experience in leading continuous improvement projects as a Six Sigma Black Belt and training of green belts are valuable skills for leading similar projects in our organization, supporting the ‘Tufco Quality Philosophy’ and taking us to the next level of products and sources reliability and predictability for our contract customer-partners.”
Tufco’s Green Bay location is a business-to-business contract manufacturer providing wide web flexographic printing, wet and dry wipes, laminations and integrated packaging solutions. Business Imaging products are produced at the Company’s Newton, North Carolina facility.
