X-Rite Pantone Showcases Color Management at SGIA Expo

Press release from the issuing company

X-Rite, Incorporated and its wholly owned subsidiary Pantone LLC will present advanced solutions in the measurement and management of color for the wide-format imaging and printing industry at the 2012 Specialty Printing & Imaging Expo (SGIA) to be held Oct. 18-20 in Las Vegas.

X-Rite Pantone representatives manning booth 2217 at the Las Vegas Convention Center will demonstrate hardware and software solutions that range from the award-winning i1Display Pro solution for monitor calibration and profiling during the prepress stage of workflow to the handheld CAPSURE instrument for accurately measuring the colors of inspiration items for accurate color matching.

At the show's all new Color Management Zone at booth 147, X-Rite Technical Support Specialist Bruce Wright will be giving a free, applications oriented talk from 11 to noon Oct. 19 titled "Setting Up Color Management -- Hardware & Software Choices," a presentation that gives solid generic advice on how companies can select the best packages to accomplish tasks. Following his presentation, Wright will be available at the "Ask the Color Expert" stand to discuss possible solutions to real world problems.

X-Rite Pantone representatives will present the advantages of the i1Display Pro package of hardware and software solutions for the color calibration and profiling of displays, laptops and projectors. Readers of Wide-Format Imaging magazine voted the i1Display Pro as the best new technology in 2012 in its prepress category. The package features a new all-in-one colorimeter design that combines three important functions – ambient light measurement, display profiling, and projector profiling.

With a new optical design that ensures accuracy and repeatability, the i1Display Pro and its bundled software is particularly well suited to calibrate and profile contemporary LCD and LED monitors, including wide gamut,  at speeds up to five times faster than other profiling solutions.  Its lightweight and simple design makes it easy for professionals to take on the road to ensure accurate color when making presentations.

X-Rite Pantone representatives will also demonstrate the company's i1Publish Pro 2 package that provides a professional level of color management for a wide range of imaging tasks. The i1Publish Pro 2 package includes the award-winning X-Rite i1Pro 2 spectrophotometer that combines three standard measurement conditions in one device (ISO 13655 M0: Tungsten; ISO 13655 M1: D50; ISO 13655 M2: UV Cut) to properly account for paper optical brightening agents under standard and specific lighting conditions. The instrument provides increased ability to color manage solvent ink printers and increased measurement accuracy on uneven substrates. In addition to the i1Pro 2 instrument, the package features the Pantone Color Manager software for managing spot colors, the ColorChecker Camera Calibration software, and the latest release of i1Profiler software with basic and advanced modes for professionally calibrated and profiled monitors, projectors, and both RGB and CMYK+ printers, including display and printer quality assurance functions.

On the color measurement side, the easy-to-use and intuitive CAPSURE instrument acts as an electronic fan deck that can measure the color of virtually any inspiration object and find an accurate match with one of up to 40,000 colors stored in its memory, such as the Pantone libraries of colors.

CAPSURE users simply place the unit on the surface they wish to measure, push a button and get an accurate color reading in less than 2 seconds. The device can isolate colors within a multi-colored pattern for developing matching or complementary color palettes. CAPSURE's small size and powerful lithium battery that can be recharged through a USB port make it the perfect choice for measuring colors of samples while on the go. The instrument can hold up to 100 measurements.
