Press release from the issuing company
HP today announced that MyPublisher, one of the largest digital photo printers in the world, installed two HP Indigo 7600 Digital Presses to support the company's 20 percent year-over-year growth in photo merchandise and prepare for the upcoming holiday photo season.
New York-based MyPublisher selected the HP Indigo 7600 based on its cost efficiency and HP Indigo's proven print quality. Currently, the company prints about 325,000 photos per day. With speeds of up to 160 color pages per minute, the new presses will enable MyPublisher to increase capacity without sacrificing quality.
"We are known for producing the highest quality digital products for our customers, which includes innovative product options, stunning designs and superior paper and materials," said Dwight Blaha, chief operating officer, MyPublisher. "We pick our presses based on the resulting end product and we felt the HP Indigo 7600 was the top digital press available."
Another important consideration for MyPublisher was the HP Indigo 7600's new features, including raised print, embossed-style textures and enhanced visioning system.
As a leading internet retailer of photo merchandise, MyPublisher prints, manufactures and ships photo books, canvas prints, calendars and greeting cards. Producing more than 130 million photos per year, the company relies on HP Indigo equipment to consistently generate flawless products. The new presses, installed in August, will increase production capacity before the busy holiday season.
Long-term relationship with HP
Two years after opening in 1994, the company adopted HP digital printing technology with its purchase of the HP Indigo TurboStream. As the company grew, it continued to invest in HP digital printing. Today, MyPublisher operates twelve HP Indigo presses, managed from customized SmartStream Ultra Print Servers with scalable RIP and job routing capabilities. My Publisher also uses HP SmartStream Production Analyzer to automatically collect production data from their HP Indigo fleet and make fact-based decisions to improve equipment and staff performance over time.
"In 1994, after inventing the high quality single copy photo book, Carl Navarre, chief executive officer, founded MyPublisher. As the company began to expand, we selected HP to help support our growth," said Blaha. "Since then, we have added HP Indigo presses to increase our production capacity throughout the years because HP continues to produce products that enable us to bring innovative solutions to the market."
Top training
HP also provides MyPublisher with important training, helping the company make the most of its equipment. Blaha frequently sends press operators to the HP Indigo Training Center in Andover, Mass. and has traveled twice to the HP Indigo facilities in Israel.
"My operators and I maintain a close relationship with HP Service photo personnel. We also have quarterly meetings with HP Indigo account managers and work with a wide range of HP specialists to determine the best in color and substrates," said Blaha. "We consider HP an extension of our factory."
HP education centers are located in 60 countries to supply HP customers with a variety of classes and programs specific to HP equipment and software. The Andover, Mass. location focuses exclusively on HP Indigo education classes, with topics on press operation, maintenance and HP SmartStream integration. HP also offers HP Indigo Onsite Training customized to meet customers' specific needs and taught at their own locations. Additional information is available at www.hp.com/education.
