KODAK PRINERGY Workflow Wins Must See 'Ems Legacy Award

Press release from the issuing company

Kodak captures four total Must See 'Ems at Graph Expo 2012

KODAK PRINERGY Workflow, the world's leading prepress production system, received the first-ever Must See 'Ems Legacy Award at the pre-show EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK Conference at Graph Expo 2012. The new Legacy Award was created to recognize one past Must See 'Ems winner that has had a transformative and lasting influence on the graphic communications industry.

"Winning such a prestigious award recognizing PRINERGY Workflow's contribution and Kodak's commitment to the print industry is an honor," said Jon Bracken, Kodak's General Manager of Unified Workflow Solutions. "Our new generation of solutions will continue to deliver efficiency improvements throughout the production cycle and focus on the manufacturing process. PRINERGY Workflow is known for its automation and version 6 will focus on integrating the production planning process–reducing the time customer service representatives, production planners, and prepress operators spend preparing optimized production plans."

The continued commitment to the future success of customers will be on display at Graph Expo 2012. Visitors to the Kodak booth will be able to see live demonstrations of PRINERGY Workflow 6, which was introduced at drupa 2012. Version 6 features unified job management driven by production intent, resulting in further reduced costs in the manufacturing process.

PRINERGY Workflow is the hub of an automated, integrated prepress workflow, which includes the upcoming KODAK PREPS Imposition Software version 7, KODAK COLORFLOW Color Management Software version 2, and the currently available KODAK INSITE Prepress Portal version 6.5, which was also named a Graph Expo 2012 Must See 'Ems award winner in the Management Systems category. The entire portfolio will be on display at the Kodak booth, #1221.

Must See 'Ems awards are given to products and services that will be showcased at Graph Expo and have been deemed as compelling technology for the printing industry according to an independent industry expert committee.

Launched to immediate acclaim at Seybold San Francisco in August 1999, PRINERGY Workflow was, and is, an integrated, state-of-the-art system based on industry-standard file formats such as ADOBE PDF Technology. PRINERGY Software organized and automated the individual tasks in prepress and plate production in a single managed process rather than the separate applications that existed before. PRINERGY Software's functionality, robustness and ability to scale from small to very large systems made it an instant hit with customers. Critics agreed, and PRINERGY Workflow won the Prepress & Publishing Product Gold Award for Workflow System of the Year in its first year of release.

Today, the PRINERGY Workflow is the preferred solution by commercial, packaging and publishing print companies seeking conventional and digital prepress capabilities, customizable automation, third-party integration, and advanced color and screening proficiencies.

"We've been using the PRINERGY Workflow for more than twelve years," said Nikos Kallas, President of Metropolitan Fine Printers in Vancouver, Canada. "It changed our business by allowing us to efficiently do all our prepress in-house. Over the years, it has always delivered the accuracy, quality and throughput we needed to be successful. We're very happy with it and can't imagine using any other workflow system."

Kodak also received Must See 'Ems recognition for NEXPRESS Gold Dry Ink, which produces a gold metallic sparkle effect for applications such as direct mail, certificates, photos, tickets and many others. Attendees at the PIA Print Excellence Awards on Sunday, Oct. 7 and NAPCO Gold Ink Awards on Monday, Oct. 8 will see this application firsthand on their tables.

Other awards went to:

  • The KODAK INSITE Prepress Portal System version 6.5, which makes it easier for print buyers, prepress operators, and service representatives to submit jobs, proof and approve work, track progress, and collaborate on changes.
  • KODAK FLEXCEL Direct System, which uses innovative, energy-efficient, high-power laser engraving to produce superior quality, affordable press-ready elastomer sleeves for flexographic printing, and is a new addition to Kodak's innovative packaging portfolio that includes the award-winning KODAK FLEXCEL NX System.
