Innovative 3D cross-media promotion at GRAPH EXPO 2012 will bring together art, technology, and graphic communications
Chalk one up for creativity. To showcase the confluence of art, technology, and 21st Century graphic communications, the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) has commissioned master chalk artist Shaun Hays to create a spectacular 20' x 20' 3D interactive chalk mural on the show floor of GRAPH EXPO as part of its cross-media marketing campaign.
The dynamic mural, comprising a main image and a QR-code cross-media component, is based on the theme, "NAPL: Your Lifeline," and will be on display at Booth #4057 throughout the Oct. 7-10 show at McCormick Place South in Chicago. Show visitors will not only be able to view the boldly colorful booth-wide artwork, but have their photos taken as they "become part" of the art installation itself.
"The piece Shaun is creating is something that has never been done before at GRAPH EXPO, and NAPL is excited to be able to demonstrate in a highly entertaining format one of the dynamic new avenues being opened by today's graphic communications technology," said NAPL Director of Marketing Samantha Lake. "It's only fitting that the association responsible for bringing together the most successful printers in the country is behind this innovative display."
"I am really looking forward to seeing the reactions from the attendees," said Hays, who has created chalk art in performances throughout the nation and in several countries, showing his high-energy chalk art on stages and television since 2002. Visitors can meet the artist at Booth #4057 on Sunday, Oct. 7, from noon to 4 p.m.; Monday, Oct. 8, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 1:45 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Hays will also be demonstrating his speed chalk artistry at the main NAPL Booth (#4023), where he will create amazing pieces of art in under 15 minutes on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 4 p.m.; Monday, Oct. 8, at 3:15 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 2:40 p.m.; and Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 1:15 p.m.
