Introducing the Xeikon 8000 Series in North America
Xeikon, an innovator in digital color printing, announced today that it will be showing the Xeikon 8800 in a roll to roll configuration at Graph Expo. This will be the first demonstration of one of its Xeikon 8000 Series presses at a major industry event in North America.
The Xeikon 8000 Series consists of the Xeikon 8500, the Xeikon 8600 and the Xeikon 8800. It supports the whole range of document and commercial printing applications, including transactional printing, book printing, short run commercial print, point of sales and wallpaper production, making it the most versatile digital press available. The Series features high precision LED-array imaging technology, which combines true 1200 dpi resolution and 4-bit per spot (bps) depth to deliver the finest commercial print quality on the market today.
All presses in the series retain the full format flexibility of Xeikon technology and are able to handle substrate widths of up to 20.15 inches. In addition, due to their unique full rotary imaging process, the Xeikon 8000 Series presses place no restrictions on the length of the printed image, thereby enabling B2 paper size formats. As a result, they can also be used for wall paper production and provide a lot of possibilities for special formats, such as covers and dust-jackets in the photo book industry and/or other book printing applications.
All three models come equipped with Xeikon's X-800 Digital Front End, which features a brand new state-of-the-art user interface called MyPress. MyPress is built from the ground up based on the inputs from Xeikon press users. At the show, Xeikon will also demonstrate a native IPDS workflow with unique capabilities. The Xeikon IPDS controller can handle 5 colors. In addition, as it RIPs while printing, it is extremely fast and can handle extreme data processing requirements. In fact, one engine has a print capacity of up to 300,000 pages per day in native IPDS mode to support transactional print jobs or peak production direct marketing applications.
In terms of the printed applications at Graph Expo, Xeikon will demonstrate a fully customized loyalty program piece. In today's day and age of multichannel communication, printed pieces are a critical medium of communication as they can capture a customer's undivided attention. However, only the best printing quality can take advantage of this opportunity to the fullest, which is exactly what the Xeikon 8000 Series presses have to offer. The piece that will be printed at the show will highlight many unparalleled attributes of the Xeikon 8000 Series presses and show how customers can improve their communication through digital printing. The printed roll will be finished with Hunkeler and Horizon equipment at the Standard Finishing Systems booth, resulting in a fully finished personalized magazine. Together with its Aura partners, Xeikon builds complete solutions to meet the customer demands. The Xeikon experts are experienced in integrating the digital press into cross media applications, and can help customers if needed.
The Xeikon 8000 Series also offers the ability to print on a large range of substrates, without the need for pretreatment. Based on web-fed printing, it enables greater reliability and assures data integrity, while allowing product flexibility for even the most innovative campaigns.
Graph Expo 2012 will be held from October 7 to 10 at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, IL. Xeikon will exhibit in Booth 2238, South Hall.
