Press release from the issuing company
Since drupa 2012, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) has sold ten Diana X 80/X 115 folding carton gluing machines with the new Inspection Control module. This inline quality control system was unveiled at the trade show and met with an enthusiastic response from both existing and potential customers. "Folding carton production requirements are growing all the time. In addition to top quality and reliability in production, manufacturers also have relatively specific demands when it comes to cost-efficiency. The huge interest in the Diana Inspection Control module and above all the large number of inquiries exceeded our expectations. This demonstrates that the solutions we showcased at drupa are exactly what the folding carton industry is looking for," says Bernhard Gansert, Product Marketing Postpress Packaging at Heidelberg.
The Diana Inspection Control module helps achieve consistently high production quality by enabling carton blanks to be checked over their entire area using an integrated camera. The high-resolution camera system compares the print image with either a digital proof (PDF) from the prepress stage or reference blanks that have been scanned in. Color defects, register inaccuracies, barcode errors, and print image deviations are detected along with defects such as carton damage and scratches. Blanks that fail to meet the quality requirements are identified and ejected by the blank ejector module at full production speed.
The inspection process and the results are documented and the defects recorded are stored in a special database. This provides full quality documentation and a systematic defect analysis. The module thus plays a key role in the continuous improvement of the production process.
The Diana Inspection Control module is available for the Diana X 80 and Diana X 115. Like all Diana X modules, it benefits from excellent accessibility, ensures fast setup, and maintains a good overview of the gluing line. The Diana X 80 folding carton gluing machine also made its debut at drupa 2012 and adds a high-performance machine intended specifically for smaller blanks to the packaging portfolio.
