Press release from the issuing company
A highly automated compact KBA Cortina has been in operation since spring 2009 printing up to 80,000 full-colour newspapers per hour at the Cologne printing plant of German newspaper publishing house M. DuMont Schauberg, whose association with Koenig & Bauer dates back almost 180 years.
Alongside the waterless offset Cortina, which is configured with four triple-wide printing towers for the Berliner format and two jaw folders, and embedded in a KBA Patras A automated reel-logistics system, the company also operates two older KBA Commander presses.
The association between M. DuMont Schauberg and KBA was recently extended with the signing of a comprehensive service contract. At the beginning of September three specialists seconded from KBA subsidiary PHS (PrintHouseService) and stationed in Cologne joined the in-house service team to provide support during production and with maintenance and technical tasks at the Cortina and Commander press lines. Their in-depth technical expertise contributes in no small part to ensuring a high level of press reliability and production efficiency.
