Presstek Appoints Spicers Canada as Distribution Partner

Press release from the issuing company

Presstek, Inc., a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions to the printing and communications industries, has signed a distribution agreement with Spicers Canada Limited, a leading distributor of graphic arts, sign and display, and industrial packaging equipment and consumables solutions as well as fine paper in Canada. Spicer is based in Vaughan, Ontario, and operates 15 distribution centers across the country. Under the terms of the agreement, Spicers will distribute Presstek’s 34DI and 52DI digital offset presses, Vector FL52 CTP systems, and consumables for these products.

Evan Cambray, Spicers’ National Category Manager, Graphic Systems and Supplies, says, “Presstek DI presses fit perfectly with our core operating values of supplying printers with solutions that enable them to grow their businesses while achieving environmental sustainability. The capabilities of Presstek DI presses align nicely with the trends we are seeing in the Canadian market toward a demand for affordable high quality short-run offset printing, and I believe our customers will benefit from their use.”

“This collaboration will bolster our presence in the region and enable printers to capitalize on Spicers’ vast expertise and experience,” said Todd Phillips, Presstek Canadian Sales Manager. “Presstek’s chemistry-free solutions are designed to help printers create a safer work environment, reduce their environmental footprint, and more competitively serve print buyers. These are all important decision criteria for printers across Canada as they consider their next investments.”

Presstek’s highly automated, sheetfed, four-color DI digital offset presses are the most cost-effective solutions for fast-turnaround, short-run, high-quality color printing. DI presses simultaneously image chemistry-free plates on press in precise register, eliminating the need for offline platemaking. Presstek DI presses offer one of the lowest costs per sheet at run lengths of 500 to 20,000, while delivering up to 300 lpi quality and stochastic screening – without incurring additional time or expense. Presstek DI presses can go from digital file to sellable color in as little as six minutes, which means more jobs can be completed in less time.

The Presstek Vector FL52 with Freedom plates is a compact chemistry-free system that provides the small format (52cm and under) printer with an affordable metal platemaking solution for higher productivity, cleaner operation and lower production costs. After imaging, Freedom plates are automatically cleaned with water in the Vector’s integrated plate washer and exit the system ready for mounting on press. These plates are ideally suited for high-quality, short-run printing with run lengths up to 25,000.
