Press release from the issuing company
Komori Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, took the first order for its newest press, the Lithrone GLX40 Carton. The purchaser, Chesapeake, a UK based pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging provider, will install the six-color, H-UV equipped 41-inch press at its plant in Leicester. This purchase follows four installations of six-color Komori Lithrone S40 presses in the past two years at its facilities in Nottingham, Leicester and Belfast.
The international print and media fair marked the official launch of Komori’s GLX40 carton press. The 41-inch press can be equipped with Komori’s non-stop feeder and delivery, an essential component to high productivity in carton printing plants. This high speed press handles a stock range from 8 pt. to 40 pt. board for added versatility. Additionally, the GLX40 when equipped with Komori’s award winning H-UV innovative curing and drying system delivers bindery ready sheets, further improving efficiency.
At drupa 2012, the six-color GLX40 was shown with a two-camera PQA-S inspection system. The two camera system works in tandem on the same side of the sheet to enhance resolution and print quality accuracy, especially critical for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics packaging markets.
“The GLX40 solidifies Komori’s commitment to the carton printing market,” said Doug Schardt, product manager for Komori America. “When you combine Komori’s KHS-AI software with H-UV and the PQA-S inspection system, you get a trifecta of efficiency you can’t find anywhere else. Perhaps that is why there was extremely high interest in this new press at drupa 2012. In fact, we anticipate several placements of our newest press in the U.S. in the coming months.”
