Press release from the issuing company
Through a deep commitment to safety, the 100 team members at xpedx’s Cincinnati Distribution Center on Reading Road have achieved a significant safety milestone by surpassing five years without an Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable incident. An OSHA recordable incident is a work related accident that results in the use of prescription medication, medical treatment beyond first aid, loss of consciousness, days away from work, restricted work or transfer to another job.
"Working without a recordable incident for more than five years is a tremendous accomplishment that requires the active participation of every team member,” said Chris Baum, general manager, xpedx Cincinnati. “We take our motto of ‘Start Safe/End Safe’ very seriously and I look forward to continuing our safe work environment for many more years.”
The Cincinnati team attributes their safety success to education and training, a focus on housekeeping, safety audits and, most importantly, employee engagement and determination in making their facility safe. With strong employee engagement, all Cincinnati team members are encouraged to be involved in ensuring a safe workplace through various activities such as safety observations and teams.
“Throughout xpedx there is a strong belief that all safety incidents are preventable, and that an accident-free workplace is achievable,” said Baum. “Our team exemplifies that belief with a goal to leave work every day in the same or better condition than we arrive. We recognize that we all have family members who are depending on us to stay safe, so we keep that in mind at all times.”
