Press release from the issuing company
Here at the conclusion of drupa 2012, C.P. Bourg is calling this edition of the quadrennial printing industry mega-show a resounding success -- and the start of a new era of on-demand print finishing.
"Digital printing and digital technology is moving smartly into the future, fueled by the reality that virtually everything conventional printing is capable of, digital can do it faster, more efficiently and with added meaning and richness," says James Tressler, Director of Marketing and Branch Operations, C.P. Bourg Inc.
"In this new era, production binding and finishing becomes integral to all but the most isolated print workflows, serving to emphasize concepts like 'nimble production' and 'zero waste.'"
On its stand in Hall 13, on the Xerox stand in Hall 8b and at other companies' stands around the show floor, C.P. Bourg launched products and held or participated in demonstrations of technology that reflect these themes, serving to consolidate the company's position as the world's leading developer and supplier of on-demand document binding and finishing equipment.
"Drupa 2012 proved beyond a doubt that, as a company dedicated to quality, innovation and efficiency, we're exactly in the right place at the right time with the products, growing partnerships and vision the printing industry needs to drive efficiency and productivity," says James Tressler, Director of Marketing and Branch Operations, C.P. Bourg Inc.
Drupa Highlights
At its stand in Hall 13, C.P. Bourg...
...Introduced new finishing products and options, including some that facilitate or can operate as part of both in-line and near-line/off-line print workflows. These include:
...Unveiled three new perfect binding systems aimed at efficiency and productivity:
...Announced Xerox validation of the new BCMEx Bleed Crease Module and BDFEx stitch-fold-trim Document Finisher for use with Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses. These are JDF-capable production finishing products that deliver on the promise of touchless print finishing, able to provide the user of any Xerox Color 800/1000 Press with exceptional finishing efficiency, flexibility and productivity.
Technological Feats
At the Xerox stand in Hall 8b -- as Cirque de Soleil performed mind boggling acrobatic feats -- a new C.P. Bourg E-series BSFEx Sheet Feeder, BCMEx Bleed Crease Module, BMEx Booklet Maker and Square Edge only meters away were performing a technological feat, operating with the new Xerox iGen 150 as part of the new Xerox IntegratedPLUS Finishing Solution for Booklets.
"We couldn't be more pleased with the commitment Xerox has made in our dual-mode finisher and to the efficiency and versatility it represents as part of the new Xerox IntegratedPLUS Finishing Solution for Booklets," remarks Mr. Tressler.
This is a technology which Xerox Senior Vice President Integrated Marketing for Europe Valerie Thomassin deemed both "very important," and a "breakthrough in the industry."
Wireless Technology Demonstration
C.P. Bourg also tapped drupa 2012 to demonstrate an important new virtualization technology that allows a finishing equipment operator with a wireless computer to monitor, control and diagnose the operation of C.P. Bourg sheet feeders, booklet makers and perfect binders from anywhere within the reach of a secure wireless local area network.
Thought to be the first implementation of print finishing products operated remotely through a mobile computing device, the virtualization technology demonstration showed how an operator or supervisor using an Apple iPad can start, stop, change or query operating parameters, enable diagnostics, and track the performance of any C.P. Bourg finisher with a touch screen controller -- while walking around the print shop factory floor.
The New Era of Print Finishing
"C.P. Bourg is at the forefront of this new era of on-demand print finishing, with innovative, high-quality and efficient products and technologies designed to accommodate the requirements and to capitalize on all the benefits that digital technology has to offer.
"In this way, we help our customers turn print on paper into quality finished products without wasted time or materials -- whether they need to produce books and booklets of one, or thousands at a time," Mr. Tressler concludes.
