Penn State University Selects Presstek 52DI

Press release from the issuing company

Presstek, Inc., a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions to the printing and communications industries, today announced that Penn State University's Multimedia & Print Center (MPC) has placed an order for a Presstek 52DI digital offset press. The 60-employee in-plant plans to utilize the Presstek 52DI to expand the range of materials it produces in-house, to improve its service offerings, and to reduce outsourcing.

“Our on-site shop brings many advantages to the community, includingconvenience, an understanding of the university’s culture, and lower costs,” said Abbas Badani, Director of the University Park, PA based in-plant print operation. “In today’s competitive environment, on-site shops must continually improve their service offerings to stay competitive. The 52DI will nicely complement our existing digital toner press and allow us to better serve the university’s printing needs.”

“We are excited to be working with Penn State and look forward to establishing a long-term partnership with them,” said Joe Demharter, Presstek’s Vice President of Sales. “Presstek DI presses align nicely with the requirements of university print shops due to their small environmental foot print, ease-of-use and their ability to provide high quality fast turnaround short run color printing without placing a burden on the staff.”

The Presstek 52DI digital offset press offers high quality (300 lpi or stochastic screening); extreme automation (job-to-job turnover, including plate imaging, in ten minutes); and a small environmental footprint with waterless printing technology, chemistry-free imaging, fast run-up for minimal waste, and consistent quality from job-to-job and within each job. The press prints up to 10,000 full-size sheets per hour or 333 letter-sized pages per minute on any offset stock up to 0.020" (0.5mm) thick. The press is available with an optional inline aqueous coater.
