Press release from the issuing company
Atlantic Zeiser Group, a leading developer and provider of modules and integrated end-to-end system solutions for security printing, is advancing the development of new applications for its inkjet digital printer ranges. With the DELTA 105i it offers an innovative inkjet component for the high-speed printing of variable data. The new Rapida 105 from Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) is an excellent example of this. For coding sheets and flat packaging, the DELTA 105i digital printer and the VERICAM verification system from Atlantic Zeiser can be optionally integrated. This combination ensures maximum print quality and speeds between 7,500 and 14,000 sheets/hour. The Rapida 105 with the integrated DELTA printers will be shown by KBA at drupa in Hall 16, Stand C47.
Atlantic Zeiser in hall 11, stand C56, will also showcase a combination of special printing requirements such as 4C card printing, coding and serialising a flat packaging carton with different barcodes and Datamatrix codes as well as individualisation using industrial digital printing for secure excise stamps to seal a package. The DELTA 105i printing module especially meets the demands of cost efficient high speed coding and serialising in security printing. Integration into production machines such as winding machines or cross-cutters is a core competence at Atlantic Zeiser. These include special machine frames that can be integrated flexibly and easily. This combination makes it easier for paper manufacturers and suppliers to track batches in the event of possible quality level deviations and assures public and private security printers of transparent quality management and sustainable quality assurance.
More security, higher quality and speed
The production example of processing security and bank note paper illustrates how the coding and serialising works. Before the crosswise and lengthwise cutting process of the paper roll, the goods delivery is recorded via a barcode. The ERP system then assigns this batch a specific group of numbers and the consecutive numbers in this group are printed onto the paper web. The paper runs through the crosscutter at high speed. With the integration of a DELTA 105i inkjet printer on this transport unit, the webs can be printed with variable data on both sides. To be able to print on both sides of the paper web, a special machine frame for a mechanical reversing unit via rolls is included with the integration package from Atlantic Zeiser. The DELTA prints the edges of the paper roll at a maximum width of 105 mm before it is cut. At a maximum speed of up to 240 m/min, it prints check codes in plain text, barcodes and 2D datamatrix codes onto the security paper. This data is obtained by the system directly from the ERP database via an interface. When a batch is marked in this way, it can be shipped and used to manufacture bank notes or security documents by print service providers.
The variable data printed onto the security paper represents the unique identification features for every sheet after delivery that is used to produce bank notes or security documents. These check codes contain important production information. If queries arise later on relating to the quality of the end product, the check code can be read and the paper batch traced throughout the entire supply chain. This ensures that any errors occurring can be quickly identified and rectified later on and means optimised quality management for everyone involved. The check data can also be used for track & tracing purposes at subsequent additional production stages.
The digital inkjet printer DELTA 105i uses either UV or water-based inks for printing. The integration package includes a corresponding UV curing module from Atlantic Zeiser as well as a system controller with integrated ink supply for seamless control of the production and information flow of the attached modules. The camera-based verification system VERICAM also guarantees 100 percent quality control of the printing.
Atlantic Zeiser will be exhibiting industrial digital print solutions at drupa in Hall 11, Stand C56 under the slogan 'Beyond Printing'.
