Located approximately 500 kilometers south of Moscow, the city of Voronezh has always been a high tech and high speed hub. The traditional space and air travel site already provided the Russian space pioneer Juri Gagarin with the required power to complete an orbit around the earth in 1961. Today, Prime Print Voronezh also expedited its newspaper production processes – in late January 2012, the company inaugurated its new UNISET printing press. As a logical consequence of the precise project management, the team of manroland and Prime Print successfully handled even unexpected challenges and met all deadlines. As a result, the press was delivered on time and production commenced in December 2011.

Consequently, Alexander P. Turbanov, General Director of Prime Print Voronezh, expressed his satisfaction: “We are pleased that the new UNISET press was manufactured, delivered and put into operation extremely quickly and precisely according to the contractually specified schedule. This allowed us to plan the production in advance and quickly achieve optimal capacity utilization of the press. Our customers expressed their appreciation of the high print quality and decreased production times.”

Expedited newspaper production with UNISET
In late 2010, Prime Print, which has six printing houses in different regions of Russia, called for tenders for a printing system to meet the increasingly complex requirements for newspaper production. Among other things, this contract printer produces an edition of Komsomolskaja Prawda, the largest circulation daily newspaper in Russia. Besides the technology, manroland’s service was an important factor, which includes production support for the first three months after the installation and six audits over the next two years. Prime Print decided against a single-circumference newspaper press in the lower price segment and chose the double-circumference UNISET, which has higher output on less floor space. Featuring two eight-couple towers, one H printing unit, two folders, an automatic webbing-up device, the cut-off register control InlineCutoff Control, automatic ink presetting with a CIP3 interface, as well as various printnet networking functions, the UNISET expands production capacity in Voronezh to 64 tabloid pages.

Welcome to newspaper heaven: Local celebrities gathered at the Prime Print premises for the inauguration of the UNISET press. In addition to the publishers and representatives of local business and politics, the attendees included the Russian and Norwegian investors. Prime Print belongs to the Norwegian media concern A-Pressen. John Kvadsheim, who is responsible for the international investments of the A-Pressen Group, thanked manroland, as a “large international business partner,” for its excellent project implementation. Michael König, Sales Project Manager at manroland web systems, and Oleg Rumjanzew, Vice President for Webfed Presses at the Russian sales partner HGS, were satisfied with the outcome of the project. König also spoke of the future: “This is a successful launch of our partnership with Prime Print Voronezh. Now we intend to − and will − consistently work on ensuring the success of Prime Print within the scope of a long-term, trust-based partnership.”
