manroland Web System's pressupdate Program

Press release from the issuing company

This company in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, is very satisfied with the printing performance of the CROMOMAN and COLORMAN. With the ordered Retrofit the printing units, folders and controls are getting refurbished. This will secure press availability for the next decade.

Additionally, Drukkerij Noordholland wants to expand color capacity in the production of their local newspapers. The COLORMAN installed here in 2000 is to be extended with one printing tower, and the 2001 CROMOMAN with two. Inaddition, the printing units and folders of the CROMOMAN are to be fitted with modern PECOM electronic controls. This increases system performance enormously, makes the production process more efficient, and offers better diagnosis possibilities for the pressline. The availability of spare parts is also assured.

pressupdate program by manroland web systems: exchanging old for new
The CROMOMAN printing units and folders are equipped with old PECOM computer engineering, but the hardware can be easily exchanged with newly-developed electronic boards. The new controls are located in the door of the printing unit control cabinet on a modified mounting panel equipped with the latest PECOM hardware and Ethernet communication. This “heart” of the printing unit is pre-installed and tested by manroland web systems and then quickly replaces the old components in the customer’s plant. The benefits: no long downtimes and minimal loss of production. Spare parts are readily available and remote maintenance is more efficient.

In Alkmaar, the printservices engineers will also retrofit three press section controls. This modification is done without interrupting production – the experienced printservices experts have the solutions: the team commissions and tests the controls during the day and the press can print again at night. “We expect the modern control technology will significantly improve the productivity of our presses, and having greater full color printing capacity will enable us to react more flexibly to the wishes of our advertising customers,” says Jetze Talsma. He is Managing Director of the Telegraaf Drukkerij Groep. Drukkerij Noordholland is a production site of this group, which belongs to the Netherlands media concern Telegraaf Media Groep. This concern is active in the fields of printing, Internet, radio, and audiovisual production.
