Press release from the issuing company
Screen (USA) recently modernized its Demonstration Center in Rolling Meadows, Ill., to provide an efficient and comfortable space for showcasing the widest range of digital printing solutions offered by any manufacturer. With the installation of the new Truepress JetSX inkjet sheetfed press, printing and graphic communications professionals can test and evaluate the latest entry in the Truepress family.
The Truepress JetSX produces high-quality, full-color printing on both sides of the sheet in one pass. This enables wide-ranging support for diverse, high-resolution applications that require duplex printing, including catalogs, calendars, photo books and greeting cards.
The Truepress JetSX also can be used to print variable data on preprinted sheets that were printed on an offset press. The Screen EQUIOS universal workflow system drives automatic production from web to print to delivery and allows the Truepress JetSX to deliver variable data printing. This opens the door to custom collateral pieces printed on demand and personalized direct mail.
Another of the Truepress JetSX’s revolutionary characteristics is its ability to print directly onto thicker paper package material, coated board and cardboard, up to 16-point in the duplex mode and 24-point in the simplex mode. The unique board-handling function meets the short-run printing and zero-inventory needs of the commercial packaging field, such as with machine parts, pharmaceuticals and medial equipment, along with personalized packaging and prototyping.
The Truepress JetSX accommodates coated and uncoated cut sheets from 8.3 x 11 inches to 20.8 x 29.1 inches. It prints 1,620 simplex sheets (6,480 8 1/2 x 11-inch sheets) or 810 duplex sheets (3,240 8 1/2 x 11-inch sheets) per hour. The paper-reversing mechanism inside the main unit consists of a transfer drum and a belt drive. Printed sheets return to the front of the machine where printing of the reverse side begins.
Thanks to the newly developed Truepress water-based pigment inks, the Truepress JetSX prints directly onto standard offset stocks without the need for precoating or using a treated inkjet paper. A postcoat unit applies a thin spot coat to seal and protect image areas. An infrared drying unit dries the sheets before delivery. Truepress inks dry almost instantly, allowing sheets to go directly to postpress for folding, cutting and& ;binding. In addition, Truepress inks display excellent compatibility with varnish coating and laminating.
The grayscale printhead emits a minimum droplet size of 2 picoliters, producing a maximum resolution of 1,440 x 1,440 dpi, the highest available in its class. Screen’s specialized FM screening, developed specifically for the Truepress JetSX, enables exceptional color and smooth tone reproduction.
Screen has adopted the same head stop, side guide and swing gripper registration system for the Truepress JetSX found in conventional offset presses. The printing position on the paper is controlled with high accuracy. Sheets are in register from the first sheet, saving time and money on makeready waste. The transport system features a linear motor drive rotary vacuum table with head stops and a side guide.
A scanner for monitoring print quality is built into the main unit. In combination with the Truepress JetSX’s specialized management software, this provides stable, high-quality printing.
