Digital Edge Invests in Fujifilm Jet Press 720

Press release from the issuing company

FUJIFILM Corporation (President and CEO: Shigetaka Komori) is pleased to announce another installation of its market leading B2 inkjet digital press, the Jet Press 720.  Digital Edge Print & Media Service Ltd, based in Canada, is the latest company to invest in the press, with the installation due to take place in March 2012.  The investment by Digital Edge follows the announcement in 2011 of the first press to be installed outside of Japan at Gilson Graphics in Michigan, USA.  These installations, in addition to a number of others in Japan, take the total number of machines installed in the market to nine.

Digital Edge is a fully integrated digital and offset print services provider with data management, design, direct mail and fulfilment capabilities. Bob Shea, President at Digital Edge, comments, "At our recent open house to promote the arrival of the Jet Press 720, the format size, outstanding quality and environmental footprint of the Jet Press attracted our clients’ attention. They, and we, are excited about the new range of print applications this press will create for us. With our data management capability, developed using toner based printing technologies, and the flexible manufacturing configuration of our bindery, we'll be able to develop short run print solutions that will allow us to better satisfy our clients but also earn us a higher level of profit for our print work."

Gilson Graphics is a full service graphic communications service provider based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.  The company serves a growing client base with creative design capabilities ranging from web-based end-to-end data solutions through to kit packing, fulfillment and brand logistics.  The Jet Press 720*1 is a strategic investment for continuing the expansion of their services.

Since the commercial availability of Fujifilm's Jet Press 720 was first announced in Japan in late 2011, the press has been installed in a variety of different print companies, demonstrating its versatility and the number of short-run printing applications that benefit from its performance. The B2 format size and ultra-high quality have allowed these printers to add additional digital printing services to their portfolios.  These include short-run commercial print, year books, photo books, proofing, DVD/CD covers and other speciality printing applications that were previously not cost effective to produce in short-runs, and print jobs that were technically very challenging to print using offset presses, but made possible thanks to the superior performance of the Jet Press 720.

Fujifilm will be continuously running the Jet Press 720 live at drupa 2012, with regular presentations highlighting the performance, environmental sustainability and application capabilities of this market leading technology.
