Press release from the issuing company
New HP Indigo digital presses and HP Designjet and HP Scitex wide-format graphics solutions are helping Ryan Printing expand beyond traditional offset printing to offer a broad range of digitally produced marketing materials.
With its portfolio of HP digital systems, the Blauvelt, N.Y.-based firm can now capture a greater share of its clients’ business, offering everything from direct mail and marketing collateral to indoor and outdoor signage and point-of-sale displays.
Uncompromised quality in digital printing
“We have always been known for high-quality output, and our service sets us apart. When it came to digital printing, we knew we needed to stick to our guns by installing solutions that do not force us to compromise on what we deliver,” said Al Ryan, president, Ryan Printing. “We are growing with HP because we can offer an expanded range of high-quality products that reflect our customers’ evolving needs.”
Ryan Printing’s clients, including New York metropolitan area Fortune 500 firms in the publishing, industrial, finance and fashion industries, benefit from having a “one stop” resource for their print jobs.
Ryan Printing customers such as industrial boiler manufacturer AERCO International Inc. also improve the return on their marketing investments with HP digital printing. AERCO International uses Ryan Printing to create a full range of marketing materials.
“Ryan Printing has become a true business partner to AERCO International Inc., and the quality of what the company offers can't be matched,” said Debra Purdy, marketing communication manager, AERCO International Inc. “Ryan Printing’s work has always been accurate, timely and of top quality, but the real difference for me has been the service the company provides. Ryan Printing realizes what our needs are and delivers every time, under some of the toughest deadlines, while paying attention to every detail.”
Driving continued growth with digital print
Al Ryan saw the opportunity to become a better resource for clients like AERCO International Inc. a few years ago. With his company’s offset operations growing, Ryan determined the increase in business represented an opportune time to invest in technology and expand. Digital printing was the logical, next step for the business as way to add new, high-demand offerings.
“Our customers were interested in digital printing for shorter-run and variable-data printing,” said Ryan, “but it could not just be any type of digital printing – the HP Indigo 5500 Digital Press we installed in March 2009 allowed us to maintain the high quality our customers deserve and set us apart from local competitors.”
Becoming a more complete solution for marketers
For Ryan Printing’s existing customers the digital installation represented an opportunity to consolidate print jobs sent to multiple printing companies to a single provider that could produce a wider range of work under one roof.
Ryan Printing started producing its customers’ targeted and shorter-run collateral printing, then expanded its web-to-print capabilities as it became more proficient with the HP Indigo press.
Ryan Printing soon added a number of new customers. In 2010, print industry veteran Rob Mangini joined the firm as a vice president and worked with Al Ryan to expand the company’s service offerings into web to print, social media, wide-format printing and e-commerce.
In early 2011, with revenue growing almost 50 percent, Ryan Printing added its second HP Indigo 5500. Printing done on the HP Indigo presses now accounts for approximately 30 percent of Ryan Printing’s revenues. The company anticipates continued growth as it rolls out new, templated web-to-print tools that will send jobs directly to the Indigo presses’ print queues.
Bringing wide-format graphics services in-house
After outsourcing some new wide-format graphics work, the company installed an HP Designjet Z6200 Photo Printer and a flatbed HP Scitex FB500 Industrial Printer in late 2011.
With the HP Designjet Z6200 Photo Printer, Ryan Printing addresses its clients’ needs for high-quality indoor display graphics for tradeshows and other uses. For rigid media work, the new, flatbed HP Scitex FB500 Printer eliminates the time and expense of foamcore mounting and lamination for many display jobs. The HP Scitex FB500 Industrial Printer enables Ryan Printing to offer point-of-purchase displays, as well outdoor signs that require the durability of the press’s UV-curable inks.
Ryan Printing’s range of offset systems and HP digital printing solutions allow it to meet important customer service goals.
“Success in our industry revolves around our ability to take stress off of our clients’ desks,” said Mangini. “If a client needs high-quality work done right, and done quickly, we don’t have problems delivering because of what our mix of solutions can do.”
