UV systems and technology leader Air Motion Systems | AMS UV announces a record year of UV adoption in the printing industry in 2011, and predicts even more activity in the New Year.
“In nearly all segments of the market we saw a significant uptick in UV adoption in industries from retail, packaging and plastics to commercial print, and running the gamut from first-time users to veterans adding UV capacity”, announced Hans Ulland, Vice President of Sales and Service.
“The underlying fundamentals of the UV process are sound and the benefits are so far-reaching now that many consider the process a ‘must-have’ to remain fully competitive in today’s environment of speed, quality and high flexibility”, said Steve Metcalf, President and CEO of AMS.
Buoyed by its market and technology leadership role in the UV space, AMS added a record number of new customers and systems sold in 2011 including stalwarts in the packaging and label industries, plastics, retail display, high-end commercial print, as well as key OEM customers.
UV technology has advanced to unprecedented levels of adoption ease in recent years. “There is literally a UV solution for everyone now” remarked Ulland. “Innovations at AMS are helping drive this trend, and include ultra-efficient High-Wavelength UV and LED UV, both of which lower the cost of entry into the UV market, and can be specified on new machines or easily retrofitted onto existing investments.”
The rapid emergence of UV LED technology in digital and offset printing was another high point of the year. “The latest generation of our PEAK LED-UV series saw significant market penetration this year, and exceeded all expectations,” added Metcalf. “Following a substantial multi-year investment in research, optics, cooling and chip design, AMS is well positioned at the forefront of the UV LED curing trend to assist customers with turn-key LED UV systems adoption.”
“Whether Standard UV, High-Wavelength UV or LED UV, our focus remains on advancing the total UV process to rapidly impact profits and success for our customers. Doing this requires absolutely proven technology as well as a turnkey solution approach, both of which have driving forces at AMS since inception” added Ulland.
AMS is a Founding Sponsor of the 5th Annual Print UV Conference scheduled to take place March 11-13, 2012 in Las Vegas. The conference is poised to attract a record number of printers and sponsoring companies seeking to network, share knowledge and learn more about the UV printing process.
