Quad/Graphics Earns All Prep, Print Work for Coldwater Creek
Press release from the issuing company
SUSSEX, Wis.--Oct. 23, 2003-- Quad/Graphics has earned a new contract from Coldwater Creek, which calls for the printer to print, bind and distribute 100 percent of the cataloger's work through 2006 and prep 100 percent of the work through 2007, as well as open an imaging facility onsite at the cataloger's Sandpoint, Idaho, headquarters.
"We determined that Quad/Graphics sees the future in the same way we do," said Dan Martin, Coldwater Creek Divisional Vice President of Creative Operations. "Quad/Graphics can help us get there while maintaining our unique look and the quality of our catalogs."
Added Tom Quadracci, president and CEO of Quad/Graphics: "We are delighted to expand our relationship with one of the nation's premier catalogers. We enjoy a collaborative relationship, with Quad/Graphics and Coldwater Creek working together to create solutions that improve the quality of its product while expediting production from imaging through distribution."
In all, Quad will produce approximately 100 million catalogs per year for Coldwater Creek titles Northcountry, Spirit and Gifts to Go as well as seasonal clearance catalogs.
As part of the new contract, Quad/Graphics will open an imaging facility at Coldwater Creek's Sandpoint headquarters and staff it with full-time Customer Service and Color professionals. The facility will feature advanced color manipulation and proofing technology that will enable technicians to perform instant color markup services. Soft-proofing devices will produce instant results, allowing for immediate client feedback and reduced cycle time.
The Sandpoint site will be seamlessly linked to the printer's nationwide network of imaging locations, further speeding the proofing and color manipulation processes, said Tom Frankowski, Quad/Graphics Vice President of Imaging Operations. "Establishing a presence onsite in Sandpoint will help foster Quad/Graphics' relationship with Coldwater Creek and improve expediency of the workflow," he said. "Together, we're moving beyond traditional barriers to expedited production."
"Quad/Imaging provides us with the scheduling flexibility and streamlined workflow that we are looking for," said Leslie Barnett, Coldwater Creek Divisional Vice President of Print Production. "We feel the technological advances available at Quad/Graphics will help us put our best foot forward on a consistent basis."
Quad/Graphics' relationship with Coldwater Creek began in 2000 with the printing of a small amount of custom web work and clearance books. In 2002, the women's specialty retailer awarded Quad/Graphics the printing of all of its catalogs as well as prepress work for two of its titles. Recently, the cataloger decided to consolidate all printing and prep at Quad/Graphics, given the printer's ability to deliver solutions.
