Press release from the issuing company
Avanti Computer Systems Limited, a leading provider of Print MIS and Web-to-Print solutions, today announced that Heritage Printing, a full service commercial printer located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has redefined its business to position itself for strong future growth and competitive advantage. Heritage Printing has been working with Avanti for two years and is realizing the benefits of a fully integrated Print MIS system.
Heritage Printing operates out of a 20,000 sq. foot building, servicing local Milwaukee and the Southeastern Wisconsin corridor. The company provides the full spectrum of print services to health care, manufacturing, education and not-for-profit organizations, and has been in operation since 1972. With a changing print industry landscape and more contenders competing for the same customers, Heritage realized early on that it was time to dramatically change the way it had been running its business for the last 40 years.
“We had been using a very simple order entry system which provided basic functionality but the system was unable to connect to any of our other systems in the shop, such as accounting, shop floor or sales,” says Robert Wendt, owner of Heritage Printing. “It was difficult for our CSR’s to quickly track the status of a job or for operations to have insight into accurate job costing information.”
In 2008, Heritage Printing embarked on a detailed MIS system analysis. After a year of thorough research, the company selected Avanti’s Print MIS system and in June of 2009 went live with it. Since then, the company has been focusing on integrating all of their systems into Avanti as well as adding key modules such as CRM and web-to-print.
“Avanti’s Print MIS provided Heritage Printing with one core system where all information across the shop could be stored and easily accessed at a click of a button,” says Patrick Bolan, President and CEO of Avanti. “With a fully integrated system that combines order entry, scheduling, shop floor data collection, accounting and CRM, Heritage Printing is able to reduce the number of touch-points and process much more work with less resources.”
Streamlining production and automating manual processes has given Heritage the bandwidth required to develop its marketing services arm called “Cultivate Communications.” Cultivate focuses on providing marketing strategy, print creative, e-marketing, and cross media strategies to its customers. Helping its clients see the value of a fully integrated approach has enabled the company to grow quickly in this area.
“With Avanti’s Print MIS we are now able to get estimates out the same day and customer invoices are ready when the job ships. This helps us to get paid much faster,” adds Robert Wendt, owner of Heritage Printing. “Also, being able to focus on non-print related services has really helped us grow this year and represents 25% of our revenue.”
Heritage Printing is well on its way to achieving full print shop automation and will continue to invest in software, technology and new processes over the next year as it gets closer to realizing this goal. For more information please visit www.clickheritage.com
