October 22, 2003--ATLANTA, GA. - Emtex, a leading provider of document output management solutions, today announced a Software Technology partnership with Firstlogic, Inc., a global provider of enterprise information quality solutions. Under the agreement, Emtex has embedded tools from Firstlogic for postal sorting and address cleansing within its output management solutions, VIP and VDE. The partnership will help provide customers who produce and deliver high volumes of transactional documents - such as financial services, telecommunications, utilities, and service bureau organizations-- with an end-to-end, solution for mail-piece preparation, mail sort and address cleansing prior to printing.
Every year, more than 40 million people in the U.S. change their addresses. Inaccurate address information means more non-delivered or returned mail. For mailers of mission critical documents, such as statements, bills and invoices, the impact is crippling through higher expenses, lost revenues and inevitably lowers customer satisfaction.
"Many technologies and solutions exist today to cleanse and postal sort addressing data held within a database or during document composition stage," said Tim Moylan, President of Emtex American Operations. "However in many cases, mission critical documents such as statements, bills and invoices are composed by aging legacy applications that are either totally incapable or too expensive to adapt in order to support the requirements imposed on them. As a result, many in-house print centers and service bureaus receive print-ready files that are not optimized for mailroom efficiency and invariably miss out on the huge savings offered to them by the United States Postal Service" (USPS).
The integration of Emtex's VIP and VDE, between Firstlogic's postal presorting and address correction and encoding software solutions (we tend not to use actual product names with OEM arrangements because it sometimes becomes confusing) provides a simple yet effective, end-to-end workflow solution for mail-piece preparation, mail sort and address hygiene for fully composed printstreams, including IBM AFP, Xerox Metacode/LCDS, Postscript, PCL and PDF. Firstlogic's address correction and presorting technology will help customers to perform USPS Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS), certified address correction and encoding, as well as Presort Accuracy Validation and Evaluation (PAVE) certified presorting on addresses extracted from the document at print time.
"The integrated solution combines these postal capabilities with powerful centralized printer and resource management, printstream transformations and appends postal codes capabilities, all seamlessly within a single process", continues Moylan. "These combined capabilities allow customers to gain significant postage savings, increase asset utilization, and streamline document workflow - essential components of an ADF".
"Coupling our data quality and postal presorting capabilities within Emtex's document output management solution suite will help customers maximize postal discounts further downstream" said Eric Lieberman, president of Firstlogic. "This enables users to benefit from our solution at multiple points within the entire document workflow. The technologies from Emtex and Firstlogic are a perfect fit and we are delighted to be part of this mutually productive relationship."
The Emtex Mail solution is currently scheduled for availability toward the beginning of the first quarter of 2004
