Chinese Flexo Industry thrilled by the "2011 China Summer Flexographic Academy"
China's flexographic industry is growing steadily, but below expectations, which has also been compounded by a shortage of talent in this sector. In contrast to the offset and gravure industry, there is too few youths interested in this printing technology. In order to develop the Chinese flexo market better and faster, Flint Group has initiated and organised the China Summer Flexographic Academy, which took place for the first time from 18 to 22 July, 2011 in Shanghai. Forty teachers from sixteen universities and colleges attended the training and practical sessions, offered by Flint Group and their partners EskoArtwork, Auclean, Tesa, Omet and Avery Dennison.
July, 20 was hosted in its entirety by Flint Group Flexographic Products. After a short company presentation and an overview on the Chinese flexographic market, presented by Magenta Zheng, General Manager China, Lee Yushan, Technical Manager Greater China, informed on the analogue and digital plate making processes. Thereafter Sim Cai, Senior Equipment Engineer & Technical Sales Manager, gave an introduction on the company's latest developments such as the nyloflex NExT technology, the nyloflex Automated Plate Processor (APP) and the nyloflex In-The-Round technology (ITR). In the afternoon teachers enjoyed practical plate making exercises at Flint Group Flexographic Products' Asia Technical Centre.
The teachers were really excited about the event and the possibility to gather detailed information on the flexographic printing process. ChenNa from Wuhan university summarises, "I feel that the training was very fruitful. Now I understand the latest flexographic technology much better and the detailed slides and movies will help me in teaching the students. We met a lot of industry peers and experts, with whom we can share information and discuss even after the event. I'm convinced that the event will contribute to develop the Chinese Flexo Industry and the printing process with environmental friendly advantages". Magenta Zheng, Flint Group Flexographic Products, adds: "We really believe that we can help to develop the flexographic market in updating teachers with the latest technology and providing them with practical exercises."
