Print Advocacy Program Promotes the Enduring Power of Print in the Media Mix

Chicago, IL – The Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC) has announced the award recipient of "Positively Print," a print advocacy program designed to promote the power of print in today's media mix.  The awardee was recognized at a ceremony following the EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK Conference on September 10, the eve of GRAPH EXPO 2011, the year's largest graphic communications exhibition and conference in the Americas.  GRAPH EXPO 2011 runs from September 11–14, 2011, in Chicago's McCormick Place.

Intended to spotlight the variety of ways in which the effectiveness of print is being promoted, Positively Print entries could be produced in any media, as long as the focus of the submissions were on print targeting print buyers, print influencers and the broader community.  Nominated candidates were evaluated on their originality and perceived effectiveness in delivering the message of print as an integral-and effective-component of today's integrated marketing campaigns.

"The purpose of the Positively Print program is to share examples of creative and effective print advocacy campaigns with the entire graphic communications industry," said Ralph Nappi, President of GASC.  "We want to demonstrate to companies involved in print that advocating for print can be done and helps to carry a powerful message that will benefit the entire industry."

Recognized by the Positively Print Award is:

Domtar for its "Paper Because" campaign.  Domtar has launched the Paper Because campaign to highlight the key role paper plays in our lives and reasons why it's an environmentally sound choice.

The judges believed two other entries deserved note and acknowledgment:

Printing Industries of Southern California for their "Choose Print" campaign.  Choose Print combines a website with facts and figures on the sustainability of paper and print with an innovative video to provide factual information on the environmental impact of print.
Unisource for their campaign entitled: I am uBRAND.  I am uBRAND is a print-based campaign that illustrates the richness of the print process with high-end graphics and stunning photography.  The piece is a visual display of the power of printed communications, which also contains facts and figures on the effectiveness of print campaigns as part of a company's marketing mix.

The Positively Print program was created and is administered as an extension of the EXECUTIVE OUTLOOK Conference by GASC co-owners-the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL), NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, and the Printing Industries of America-with the support of the Print Council.  For more information about the Positively Print program visit: www.positivelyprint.org.
