Press release from the issuing company
ROCHESTER, N.Y., - For a firm that offers a comprehensive range of high-quality printing services, finding the right solution can quickly turn challenging situations into happy ones. That's the experience Vision Graphics Inc., in Denver and Loveland, Colorado, had when the company chose KODAK TRILLIAN SP Thermal Plates.
"We run a large-format press-a ROLAND 900-which is a 56-inch press," said Mark Steputis, Vision Graphics president and chief executive officer. "We run stochastic and UV, and we need a 15-gauge plate. When you put all of these challenging requirements together, you have a small range of choices to get great results. TRILLIAN SP Plates solved our challenges, giving us the results our customers demand with improved sustainability and efficiency."
KODAK TRILLIAN SP Plates offer an impressive combination of outstanding productivity, reduced chemistry and efficient on-press performance, with potential reductions in plate production costs and environmental impact in comparison in comparison to typical digital processed plates currently on the market. A patented negative working coating provides high sensitivity, excellent resolution, consistency, chemical resistance, and durability. In addition to its extraordinarily sharp detail and stability for short- and long-run AM and FM applications, TRILLIAN SP Plates offer fast processing speeds and long run capabilities without the need for preheating or postbaking. Eliminating the baking steps improves turnaround times, while TRILLIAN SP Plates use up to 70 percent less chemistry than previous plate systems from Kodak-increasing efficiency while saving on processing costs.
"In our previous set-up, we required a lot of interaction to produce desired results," Steputis said. "We had certain jobs that we knew would involve making a number of adjustments, extending makeready and approval times. When we tried out TRILLIAN SP Plates, we used them on these challenging jobs, so we could see the difference, and the results were fantastic."
Vision's production manager, Scott Pelot, found the Kodak plates easier to use with a resulting boost in quality. "Less chemistry in processing is a very good thing," he said. "With TRILLIAN SP Plates, it's easier to get the ink and water balance on press, so we have faster makereadies. The smoother coating on the plate makes for smoother screen builds on press. And TRILLIAN SP Plates are much harder, so we have less scratching from our Delta units. All in all, moving to TRILLIAN SP Plates has been the right thing for us."
In addition to KODAK TRILLIAN SP Plates, Vision Graphics uses a number of Kodak solutions in systemically approaching its operations. KODAK TRENDSETTER VLF and TRENDSETTER 800 CTP Platemakers provide output to thermal, conventional and digital plates. KODAK PRINERGY Workflow System that contains KODAK COLORFLOW Software creates a single workflow to manage all facets of a prepress job, providing color-accurate rendering of files regardless of output device or media. For online collaboration with clients, Vision Graphics uses KODAK INSITE Storefront System for integrated variable data printing (VDP) capabilities that easily create VDP templates that can be customized and ordered online.
