Press release from the issuing company
GRAPH EXPO - Chicago - EFI, a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today debuted PrintSmith Vision, a totally new evolution of EFI PrintSmith, the most installed Print MIS in the world. The software is on display for the first time in EFI's booth at GRAPH EXPO (#2000 through Sept. 14th, McCormick Place).
PrintSmith Vision provides a full-featured, browser-based management solution designed for print-for-pay, on-demand and small commercial operations with virtually any combination of production processes. PrintSmith Vision has been built to collect, organize and present information in a format that allows small businesses - with a limited number of personnel, many wearing multiple hats - to thrive in today's business environment.
PrintSmith Vision includes estimating, quoting, order tracking, scheduling, production forms, data collection, inventory, costing, and invoicing tools. The system utilizes a familiar browser-based interface so it can be easily accessed from anywhere, and makes daily processes easy to learn and use. With PrintSmith Vision, new employees come online faster while existing employees perform more tasks with a higher degree of speed and accuracy. With a powerful data mining and reporting capability, business owners have real-time visibility into their operation, allowing them to make better, more profitable "informed" decisions.
"I am excited to see PrintSmith become a more modern and advanced system that takes full advantage of the flexibility and mobility of a browser-based, server-administered solution," said beta user Chuck Lobaugh, owner and general manager of Curry Printing HHI, Inc. in Hilton Head Island, S.C. "It will be fantastic to maintain everything at the server level and not have to worry about client software any longer, and I look forward to being able to access my PrintSmith from any computer or device with a browser."
"In the competitive environment of the printing industry, the ability to manage a business more efficiently is critical," said Robert Rothschild, general manager of EFI PrintSmith and heritage products. "PrintSmith Vision builds on the many years of development of PrintSmith. It takes the tasks previously performed by an often overworked office staff or the owner, and streamlines and automates these processes. It's like having a highly qualified assistant who works 24/7."
The solution is available in single and multiuser configurations. PrintSmith Vision runs on a Mac or Windows server, allowing all workstations complete "read" and "write" access to the database. It also has an open database, so data can be accessed by third party applications.
Printing businesses selecting PrintSmith Vision can utilize EFI Digital StoreFront or EFI PrintSmith Site web-to-print platforms to extend the power of the system to their clients' desktops, and the system will be a great fit for on-demand digital printing driven by EFI Fiery servers.

PrintSmith Vision is planned for release in Q1 of next year, from EFI and its channel partners.
