INX teams with ITL to debut NW140 Press at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Schaumburg, IL – INX International Ink Co. will debut its unique NW140 UV digital narrow web press at Graph Expo, which runs from September 11-14 in Chicago at McCormick Place. INX (booth #427) has partnered with several industry suppliers such as Integration Technology Limited, (ITL) in the development of the NW140, employing the company's air-cooled UV LED pinning system and Spartanics laser die-cutting capabilities.

The NW140 press is the latest addition to INX's highly successful roster of EVOLVE Advanced Digital Solutions brand line products.  The NW140 delivers single pass printing with brilliant color at speeds up to 80' feet per minute on any label stock.  It also provides for easy separation of printed labels. ITL's LEDZero Pincure Plus 080-6 pinning system is a cost effective solution for low dose curing applications delivering an 80 mm x 5 mm effective cure area per UV LED array.  The Pincure Plus 080-6 arrays are mounted independently of each other with each array positioned immediately after each printhead.

As the world's leading designer of UV curing systems for a variety of applications in the inkjet printing market, ITL has sold UV LED pinning and full cure products to the digital inkjet market for many years. The first Pincure systems were first introduced to the market in early 2010 with an initial peak irradiance of 0.5 Watts/cm2. Several generations later, the Pincure Plus 080-6 has a peak rating of 1.0 Watts/cm2.

"INX wanted to incorporate pinning to improve the image quality of the label.  They felt recent advancements in UV LED technology would allow them to successfully integrate pinning into the NW140," said Jennifer Heathcote, General Manager of ITL's North American operations in Chicago.

"Our UV LED products are based on core technology that can easily be scaled up in size or configured as needed.  UV curing applications are extremely diverse and a one-size-fits-all UV LED solution just isn't possible.  We worked closely with INX to determine what UV LED technology was needed most by the market.  While the Pincure Plus 080-6 is one of our standard products, it was specifically packaged to meet the requirements of the NW140 press."

The Pincure Plus 080-6 offers terrific benefits.  Instant On/Off UV output, limited or significantly reduced heat transfer to the substrate when compared to traditional curing systems, and a more compact form fact that allows the arrays to be mounted close to the media and the print heads, are just a few examples.  Heathcote says this gives her company an advantage compared to other market offerings.

"Our air-cooled pinning arrays are among the most compact and lightweight assemblies.  This makes them ideally suited for both static and moving carriage applications.  The modularity of our pinning arrays enables them to be mounted independently as INX is doing with the NW140, or mounted end-to-end for seamless curing that can be increased in the 80 mm increments up to 2.8 meters. As a result, the arrays can be configured to the specific lengths required by most applications.  The arrays also use an optical feature to produce consistent UV output along the entire length of a single array or multiple arrays mounted end-to-end."
