Conducted in January 2011, the Wage and Salary Survey asked respondents from the US to report company size, annual sales volume, payroll, community affiliation and 2011 compensation values for 79 different positions. The 496 responding companies determined which positions were applicable for their particular printing operations' job titles and individual responsibilities, however, job definitions used in the survey allow sufficient latitude for matching job duties with survey job titles.
"The Wage and Salary Survey Report is an excellent tool for company owners looking to offer their employees competitive wages," said Dan Marx, vice president of markets and technologies.
The survey reported overall wages paid to production and administrative employees are down less than one percent compared to 2009 figures, with some positions showing significant shifts in compensation. Also, nearly 40 percent of companies responding to the survey report that their annual payroll is between 21–30 percent of their annual gross sales. Around 80 percent of companies report payroll is between 11–40 percent.
The SGIA 2011 Wage and Salary report is free for all survey participants, $99 for SGIA members and $198 for non-members. Get your copy today at SGIA.org, Keyword: eStore.
