Clifton, New Jersey – Sappi Fine paper announced the winners of the 14th North American Printers of the Year Competition. Sandy Alexander was awarded the most outstanding calendar for printing the Maybelline Puzzle Piece 2011 Calendar. There were 10 gold winners of the 14th North American awards chosen from a field of approximately 2,100 entries.
Sappi's Printer of the Year awards recognize print excellence and innovation on Sappi papers in ten categories of work. "The craftsmanship and innovation demonstrated by our gold winners is an outstanding example of why print remains a vital communication medium," said Jennifer Miller, Executive Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Sappi Fine Papers North America.
"We are proud to be recognized for our excellence in printing by Sappi Fine Papers", said Mike Graff, President & CEO of Sandy Alexander. "We consider this award to be one of the most prestigious in the printing industry and are honored to be rewarded for the creativity and innovation we try to bring to our clients every day."
The piece was printed for Maybelline Cosmetics and designed by Gotham Inc., a leading advertising agency located in New York City. Given the complexity of the piece, it took extensive planning and testing between Sand Alexander, Maybelline and Gotham to develop and print this unique one-of-a kind piece. The Maybelline Calendar is approximately 7 feet high and 5 feet wide consisting of 15 puzzle pieces.
