(West Hartford, CT) Gietz received seven awards at the FSEA Gold Leaf Awards Banquet in Indianapolis, IN on May 3rd of 2011.
The prestigious awards are given to trade finishers and commercial printers who have submitted samples of their work in various categories. The submitted pieces are judged by a panel selected by the FSEA. Hundreds of pieces are submitted for review and are selected for a gold, silver or bronze award. One piece is eventually judged best of show each year.
The first, a bronze award, went to Wilco (Rock Tenn) of Candiac, Quebec Canada, for the product launch of L'oreal Youth Code Product Launch 3-SKU set. An extremely difficult job, the gold foil was applied on a Gietz Foil Commander. The dies were made by H&M and the foil was supplied by Crown Roll Leaf. The piece was designed by L'oreal USA and a Paris design team. Production Details: Inverkote paperboard, combination foil stamp emboss gold foil, emboss black band, clear holographic foil stamp, 1 sku has a spot pearl flexo coating, overall UV gloss, UV inks. The second was a silver award for a Book Cover/Jacket category for Creativ Verpacken by H&M dies. Foil stamped on a Gietz Foil Commander with Kurz Transfer Products foils and H&M dies. The winner was produced in nine separate passes on a Gietz Foil Commander and printed on a Heidelberg. See example two.
The third, a silver award was won in the self promotion category and went to H& M for City Scapes Poster #5. Produced on a Heidelberg and foil stamped on a Gietz Foil Commander with foil from Kurz and dies from H&M. It was produced in 4 steps on the Foil Commander. See example three.
The fourth, a silver award went to Fine Impressions for submission of an example of an ink over foil job. The job titled Peacock Feathers was produced on a Gietz with foil from ITW and dies from Metal Magic. It was flat stamped over print and embossing. See example four.
The fifth, a bronze award, also went to Fine Impressions for submission of an ink over foil piece. The job titled Butterfly Birthday was produced on a Gietz with foils from Nakai and API with dies from UEI. The piece has two stamping and one embossing pass. The print is applied after the first foil pass. See example five.
The sixth, a gold award, went to H&M USA for their submission of the Wrist Watch in the miscellaneous category. The piece was produced on a Gietz 870 Compact with dies from H&M and foil from Kurz. It was produced in seven passes on the Gietz 870 Compact foil stamping press. See example six.
The seventh, a gold award, went to Trade Print Finishing for their submission of "Touchy Feely" in the specialty UV coatings category. Produced on a Gietz with dies from Metal Magic and foil from Kurz with UV coatings from Actega Kelstar. It had one pass for foil, 3 UV passes, gloss, matte and texture. See example seven.
