New York, NY; January 20, 2004 – Integrated Color Solutions (ICS), a technology leader in providing color management solutions to industries where color is critical, announced today that graphic communication industry veteran John P. Sweeney has been appointed to the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing reporting to CEO and President Jeffrey Silverman.
In his new role at ICS, Sweeney will direct all marketing and sales efforts for the company’s Remote Director monitor-based contract proofing system and other color management products and technologies. He takes over the marketing and sales reins from Peyton Kay, who is leaving ICS to pursue other interests.
Of the appointment, Jeffrey Silverman said, “John Sweeney brings to ICS a wealth of industry knowledge and experience that he will apply in communicating the advantages of monitor-based contract proofing, and in helping other industry professionals understand how our Remote Director software makes it easy to transition efficiently to an all-digital workflow. We’re excited to have this de facto endorsement by one of the foremost professionals in the graphic communications industry of our company and of our approach -- which we believe represents the future of color proofing and production.”
John Sweeney commented, "I have enjoyed helping to bring significant new color technology to the market during my career. Color management and automated closed-loop color controls on press are here, and color-accurate soft proofing is the final missing link to achieving true enterprise-wide, color managed digital workflows. I am excited to be joining ICS, and to participate in this transformation of our industry."
Sweeney joins ICS with nearly 20 years of marketing, sales and technical experience in the graphic communications industry, most recently as Director, Color Measurement Systems at Graphic Microsystems, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, responsible for global technical and sales support and liaison to Engineering and R&D for GMI’s color control systems. Prior to joining GMI in 1998, Sweeney served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Director, Process Controls at Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) in Pittsburgh for four years; and he held marketing, sales and product management positions at X-Rite, Grandville, MI, a leading densitometer manufacturer. He also has served as Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Industrial Administration.
A vocal proponent of graphics industry standards and color management and control, Sweeney has been associated with many efforts and initiatives related to the subject of color management and control and has served in an advisory capacity to many graphics industry organizations including Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA), GATF, IDEAlliance, ANSI Committee for Graphic Arts Technical Standards (CGATS), Specifications for Web Offset Publications (SWOP), the Research & Engineering Council of National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL), and CIP4.
Sweeney received a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh Katz School Of Business and holds Bachelor of Science degrees from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He also served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve (retired). He is a resident of Mt. Lebanon, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh.
