Screen and Konica Minolta announce marketing agreement on Truepress Jet520

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, Ill. — Screen (USA) announced an agreement with Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. that will provide the two companies’ customers with more options in choosing high-end, production-class inkjet printing systems. Under the agreement, Konica Minolta will market the Screen Truepress Jet520 family of inkjet web presses.

The partnership gives the Truepress Jet520 series access to Konica Minolta’s direct sales network while broadening Konica Minolta’s portfolio into the high-end inkjet-based market. Konica Minolta will sell the full-color Truepress Jet520ZZ, Truepress Jet520 and Truepress Jet520EX models and the Truepress Jet520EX-Monochrome in the United States.

“From the spectacularly fast Truepress Jet520ZZ to the exceptionally economical Truepress Jet520EX, the Truepress Jet520 series single-handedly redefines print on demand,” said Bill Brunone, Screen’s vice president of targeted inkjet systems. “This groundbreaking inkjet press line maximizes users’ printing capabilities. With Konica Minolta’s resources and support, we can extend the Truepress’ reputation and respond to customers’ demands.”

“We are excited to work with Screen (USA) to transform the digital printing industry,” said Kevin Kern, senior vice president of marketing at Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. “This partnership positions Konica Minolta to succeed in the highly competitive high-end inkjet market. Konica Minolta is making it easy for anyone to benefit from the industry-leading image quality these devices offer. We will continue to invest the resources to ensure that our sales team, production printing specialists and systems engineers are experts in this market.”

Variable data inkjet web presses

The Truepress Jet520 series, the world’s most successful continuous-feed, single-pass inkjet press, goes beyond the traditional boundaries of variable printing. The press series delivers excellent quality and high productivity on any project, including on-demand production of magazines, newspapers, small-lot commercial jobs, books and transactional printing.

Adding the optional JD-520 external drying unit improves ink drying on paper types that have posed challenges in the past, such as inkjet matte coated paper and inkjet glossy coated paper. Another option is the JetInspection JI-500 inspection unit. Using this system increases product reliability and contributes to more consistent production. The Truepress Jet520 series can be equipped with roll unwind, rewind and finishing equipment from major vendors.

As the first step in this new working relationship with Konica Minolta, Screen (USA) representatives will be on hand in the Konica Minolta exhibition area at On Demand Conference and Exposition 2011, from March 22-24 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Visitors to Booth #2400 can witness firsthand the fast turnarounds and efficient production made possible by the Truepress Jet520.
