Based on its output management system printnet OM, which has already set industry standards in prepress automation, ppi Media, a company of manroland, announced its launch of OM kompakt today. This new prepress product is a pre-configured solution for small and medium-sized newspaper companies that want a future-proof system for their changing business requirements.

OM kompakt offers all the benefits of an automated production control system, including straightforward order management, page pairing, barcode generation, form proofing and built-in ink zone calculation. Whereas low-cost solutions are based on hot folders, OM kompakt is database driven and consistently adheres to a planning-based approach, taking technical production facilities in the pressroom into account.

"We spoke with a lot of customers and listened carefully to their needs so we were able to design a solution that can be installed and configured fully remotely and has very low hardware requirements.
