New Sterling Ultra Paper Promotion Available from MeadWestvaco
Press release from the issuing company
DAYTON, Ohio – On the surface, shoes may seem an unlikely choice of subject for a paper promotion, but the theme is a perfect fit for a clever new brochure demonstrating the aesthetic benefits and performance capabilities of Sterling Ultra sheet-fed and web papers, which is now available from the MeadWestvaco Papers Group.
Entitled “Sterling Ultra: Paper that Fits,” the brochure works off the premise that with paper, as with shoes, commercial printers, graphic designers and other paper specifiers know when they’ve found a perfect fit: both look good, both feel good and both offer the optimum combination of form and function. To show how the Sterling Ultra gradeline has a sheet that fits any size and shape print job, the brochure uses full-color images of every imaginable shoe type – from flip flops to ice skates – produced using a variety of demanding print-production techniques.
Conceived by Douglas Oliver Design Office, Santa Monica, Calif., and printed by Hennegan, Florence, Ky., the brochure’s unique Z-fold design breaks the piece into two distinctive sections. The front half reproduces the shoe images using metallic, fluorescent and match-color touchplates; conventional and stochastic screens; spot, dot-for-dot and overall varnishes; and single- and double-hit solids.
In addition, four pages in the front section, each containing identical images of a cowboy boot on their front and a boot print on their back, are cut in half horizontally. These pages are printed on Sterling Ultra cast coated, gloss, dull, and matte finishes respectively, allowing users to compare the effects that the different finishes have on a printed image simply by turning either the tops or bottoms of the pages.
The back half of the brochure features comprehensive information on the complete Sterling Ultra gradeline, including sheet-fed, web, C1S, web caliper, USPS, digital and cut-size, outlining the available finishes, basis weights and calipers; styling characteristics; and brightness and gloss levels. It also contains a glossary of commonly used printing and paper terms.
Known for its versatility and ultra-bright, blue-white styling, Sterling Ultra is a No. 2 grade paper with the optical qualities of a No. 1 grade. It delivers brilliant images that promise the right contrast and radiance, adding touch of sophistication and timelessness to everything from corporate literature and product brochures to advertising inserts, catalogs and direct mail.
Sterling Ultra also delivers exceptional performance and consistent runnability in a variety of printing processes. By leafing through the new demonstration brochure, designers can get a sense of the color fidelity and snap Sterling Ultra provides, while printers will appreciate its minimal dot gain and excellent ink holdout that result in faster make-ready times and smooth pressruns.
