Mohawk Announces Winners of the Fourth Annual Mohawk Show
Press release from the issuing company
[Cohoes, NY] – Four top winners and over 20 finalists were recently announced at the Fourth Annual Mohawk Show. The Mohawk Show is a celebration of higher thinking in graphic design, developed to recognize works that combine brilliant design, intelligent paper selection and superior printing and production. Printers from around the country will be recognized.
Award winning pieces included a variety of printing and production techniques, ranging from a complex stationery system with specialty die-cutting and perforations, to an annual report with a limited palette of match colors; to a hardcover book displaying high-end digital photography.
“This work is a collection of both simple and elaborate pieces, all demonstrating exceptional printing and thoughtful attention to detail,” commented Mohawk’s Creative Director, Laura Shore. “For instance, Itron, Inc.’s 2002 Annual Report represented the best in match color printing, demonstrating strong ink hold out and coverage on the paper,” continued Shore.
Printers of the top award winning pieces include, Lithocraft, Santa Rosa, CA [Oh Boy, Artifacts]; Colorgraphics, Seattle, WA [Itron, Inc. 2002 Annual Report]; Studley Press, Dalton, MA [Quack, Quack, Quack: The Sellers of Nostrums in Prints, Posters, Ephemera & Books]; Colorprint HK Co., Ltd, Hong Hong [Episode II: Superwoman].
The four best of show winners are featured in a publication called Four Stories, available now.
Mohawk will distribute these books at Mohawk Show exhibitions and other industry events throughout the year.
Best of show winners were selected by an impressive jury including designers Bill Grant of Grant Design Collaborative, Canton, Georgia (chair); Petrula Vrontikis of Vrontikis Design Office, Los Angeles, California; Robert Valentine of The Valentine Group, New York, New York and Ann Willoughby of Willoughby Design Group, Kansas City, Missouri.
Winners will be featured in Mohawk’s traveling exhibit at the AIGA conference in Vancouver this year. For entry forms, a complete listing of show winners and information about Four Stories, call 1-800-THE MILL or visit www.mohawkpaper.com.
