Press release from the issuing company
Norcross, GA – Unisource Worldwide, Inc., one of the leading distributors of paper, packaging and facility supplies in North America, has been named a 2010 Green Supply Chain Award winner by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine for making sustainability a core part of the company’s supply chain strategy.
“It is an honor to be selected as a 2010 Green Supply Award winner and to have other industry leaders recognize our efforts in the area of corporate sustainability,” said Nancy C. Geisler, Vice President of Sustainability for Unisource. “Sustainability is a core strategy and goal at Unisource and we are committed to distributing products and services that help businesses respect our environment and people. We also take great pride in ourselves for being an industry leader in supply chain and operational efficiency,” Geisler said.
According to Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the 2010 Green Supply Chain Awards recognizes companies that are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and/or supply chains in the areas of Sourcing/Procurement, Fulfillment/Logistics, Operations, Product Lifecycle Management, and other areas of the supply chain.
Among the green initiatives implemented this year by Unisource was a supplier sustainability scorecard program. The scorecard – based on 16 questions Unisource is asking of its suppliers – serves as a comprehensive response for the information required to complete the sustainability assessment and explore in great detail the business case and potential benefits for companies to measure and manage their environmental impacts.
