Press release from the issuing company
In October, Model Kramp opened one of Europe's most modern printing plants for folding cartons. A novel concept for energy recovery and comprehensive process know-how was implemented in the new building where high-performance manroland presses are now in production.
Model Kramp Managing Director Elisabeth Model and her staff have achieved their objective: Model Kramp's new printing plant in Hanau meets the highest standards for climate protection and work environment. Folding cartons are produced here for the premium segment of the cosmetics industry. As Dr. Markus Rall emphasized in his address during the opening ceremony, the new facilities fully reflect the innovation strategy of the Model Group. People, customers and employees, are the focal point in the Model Kramp concept, which impresses with its totality and complexity. The printadvice experts from manroland, who are responsible for advisory services ranging from building planning to process optimization, worked closely with the building services contractors to coordinate electronic functions, heating, air conditioning and compressed air supply.
New building highlights
Groundbreaking energy supply concept: the presses are supplied with industrial water, reverse osmosis water, compressed air and energy via the hall ceiling. The connection to the individual consumption points is mounted in rail systems. It was decided against supply lines in the floor so that the company has maximum flexibility for changing the machine layout.
Lean processes: in the context of Lean Management, attention was paid to providing the shortest possible processing routes in the production. The workflow organization was optimized by linking the finished goods store to production. The improved flow of goods meets all the requirements of modern logistics.
A good climate: constant values for the room climate, temperature and humidity are important for high quality processing of paper and carton. Air conditioning equipment on the roof of the production hall with a central building control system ensures a constant climate for the staff and production.
Strategic sustainability: the issues of Environment (DIN ISO 14000) and Hygiene (DIN ISO 15593) are documented in integrated management systems. Implementation was carried out in accordance with the requirements of these standards. As a result, the printing plant meets high economical, ecological and aesthetic demands. For example, the presentation room in the new Customer Center is equipped with the latest lighting technology that permits design variants to be simulated under freely selectable illumination conditions. This enables Model Kramp to develop optimal solutions for providing customers with precisely what they want.
Absolutely customer-specific: the manroland machine park
Today, four ROLAND 700 presses are installed at Model Kramp in Hanau, all run in UV operation. The star among them is a new ROLAND 700 HiPrint. Wolfgang Kern, Works Manager at Model Kramp: "Our customers have very high quality expectations that all the folding cartons we produce have to meet, and especially in the premium segment of the cosmetics industry. This is why we chose a specific configuration for the ROLAND 700 HiPrint, and can say this is absolutely perfect."
