For the second time in the last three years OMET wins one of the most prestigious international awards on the occasion of Label Expo Americas, the most important international showcase that took place in Chicago for the label industry.

We are talking about the “Label Award for the continuous innovation 2010” in the label sector promoted by Tarsus, the company which also organizes the different editions of Label Expo and publishes "Labels & Labeling", the most important magazine of the sector worldwide.

OMET was chosen among a wide selection of participating companies after a careful analysis of strict requirements: the innovation capacity of the company, its significant contribution to the sector technological development, the company ethics, the experience, the care for staff training. The choice was made by a jury composed of experts, guided by John Hickey (former President of the American Association TLMI) and composed of Andy Thomas (publisher of the magazine Labels and Labeling); Tony White (publisher of the magazine NarroWebTech), Jack Kenny (publisher of the magazine Label & Narrow Web) and Andrea Vimercati (President of the European Association FINAT).

The prize was delivered during a gala dinner on the ship "Spirit of Chicago" to OMET's sales manager Marco Calcagni: "OMET is particularly proud of this new world acknowledgment. Once more the continuous engagement of our company in research and setting up technologically advanced solutions for world converters and label makers is proven. An all-round mission that involves OMET in its complexity - thanks to the founder and president's Angelo Bartesaghi's far-sight - fostering both a development of the company's human resources and an ongoing progress in the sector". said Calcagni.

The “Label Award for the continuous innovation 2010” comes - as already stated - after only two years from another prestigious award. In September 2008, also in the United States in Dallas, the FTA (Flexographic Technical Association) OMET received the “Technical Innovation Award 2008” for innovation in the sector of flexographic print for their new  X-Flex, which shortly became the world reference point for all of narrow-web label print presses.  

After almost 50 years of manufacturing activity and approximately 1.000 installed machines around the world, OMET does not only represent one of the most important companies in the world in the field of printing presses, but also a real pioneer of continuous innovation. This pathway started a long time ago and found the most important technological advancement in the last decade of the company's development. Their entry into the narrow web market dates back to 2001 with the launch of Varyflex, the first flexographic press with sleeve printing units and gearless technology (the evolution of servo driven machines).  

In 2004 OMET opened the road to the combined printing platform, supplying a Chinese customer with 2 Varyflex equipped with flexo units, rotogravure, silk-screen, hologram with foil saver and hologram paper, all in one pass. This innovation allowed the company to receive the “Gold Award” in the category “Narrow web – Paper (Color)” at the AFTA Print Awards in Singapore in 2008.

In 2007 OMET presented at Labelexpo the new X-Flex, which has the shortest web path ever seen before, and introduced incredible advantages for the printers - first of all the VISION-1 register and pre-register control to make all the adjustments on the machine automatically, only pushing a button.  

OMET in 2008 developed a feature on Varyflex to make on-line solvent lamination. More recently the biggest narrow-web machine made by OMET has been installed in China: a Varyflex which is 55 meters long, with 20 combined printing units (Flexo UV, flexo water based, offset UV and digital ink-jet) for in-line production of scratch lottery tickets.  

But OMET's innovation does not stop here: The Italian company has also introduced several solutions aimed at optimizing the remaining phases of the process, aimed at reducing times and costs and increase saving possibilities, such as the cut-on-the-fly die-cutting unit, the Twin-Cut unit and more recently the Monotwin unit, which allows changing label format without replacing the cutting cylinder.
