FedEx Office 'recruits' NFL Players to pack and ship this holiday season

Press release from the issuing company

Dallas - Unsuspecting customers at FedEx Office centers may do a double-take in the coming months, as several of their favorite NFL players step off the field and behind the counter this holiday season. FedEx Office, an operating company of FedEx Corp., announced today the kickoff of its second annual "Pack and Ship with the Pros" promotion, which gives football fans across the country a chance to win 2011 season tickets, autographed merchandise and other prizes by simply signing up and shipping items at more than 1,800 U.S. FedEx Office locations this season.

From now until Dec. 31, 2010, FedEx Office will be drafting some temporary team members -- from several of the National Football League's most talented players. The company is calling in backups to staff FedEx Office centers in seven cities across the U.S., by recruiting NFL players to help customers pack and ship their holiday gifts.

"Instead of pass rushing, I'll be packing and shipping with the pros at FedEx Office," said Dallas linebacker DeMarcus Ware. "I'll have some fun with my fans in a new environment, while learning how to package up some of those special holiday gifts."

Throughout November and December, NFL players will huddle with team members at FedEx Office locations in Dallas, Indianapolis, Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh, Denver and Washington, D.C., to learn how to pack, ship and deliver a winning holiday season for its customers.

"Last year, we shipped 13.6 million packages across the country and around the world on Dec. 14 alone, which was our busiest day," said Kim Dixon, executive vice president and chief operating officer, FedEx Office. "At FedEx, our goal is to always deliver an outstanding customer experience, and we want people to know they can count on us to get their packages where they need to be this holiday season -- safely and on-time."
