'Winning the War on Waste' conference covers issues for future of UK Print

Press release from the issuing company

In the current challenging market of UK print many print industry Managing Director's will need to plan for the future to either retain or regain decent margins in 2011. Vision in Print's 'Winning the War on Waste' conference will offer 10 Best Practice case studies from industry companies on a wide range of related topics that will give plenty of practical tips to meet this urgent need, making it a must attend event.

Take 'Material Waste' as an example. Most printers have tackled this before now, but how many have effective Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and processes in place to radically reduce wastage and more importantly hold the gains? Stuart Kellock of Label Apeel will demonstrate that you do not need to be a large scale operation to tackle this professionally.

Or consider the challenge of making the best use of your Management Information. Everyone has their Management Information Systems (MIS), but how many have established a few key KPIs and engineered their MIS to deliver these rapidly so that the shop floor can make effective use of the data to drive up performance there and then? Robin Welch of GI Solutions will tell of their experience in implementing such a simple but profound change in management habits.

What about managing your paper supply to improve performance and reduce net cost? Kingfisher Print and Design has rethought its paper supply so as to gain competitive advantage through the presentation of paper and ease of use as well as ensuring they purchase competitively. Ian Symons will explain how.

Finally, we all know we need to carry the hearts and minds of our team, even through difficult periods, if we are to succeed in any initiative. Two speakers, Vincent Gridley of Howitt and Steve Whitehead of Newsprinters Broxbourne, will tell of their experience. Neither will claim they have got it right, but both have made a good fist of it and can share the lessons learnt.

These are just half of the talks at the forthcoming Vision in Print 'Winning the War on Waste' conference. The keynote speaker is Lord Heseltine, who will address 'the future of UK Print'. This should be very relevant and topical, for as well as having a lifetime in Print & Publishing; Lord Heseltine remains an active player in politics with a role in the Coalition government in Regional Funding.

The 'Winning the War on Waste' conference will take place at The Lancaster Hotel London on 22nd November 2010.
