Press release from the issuing company
Bright sunshine over Amstetten provided the perfect conditions for the successful anniversary celebrations. On Sunday, Oct. 10th 2010, the Amstetten site of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) celebrated its 25th anniversary with a ceremony and family day for employees and their relatives. More than 7,000 guests flocked to the site in Amstetten, underlining their close ties with the company. Company tours and practical demonstrations were given throughout the day to showcase one of the most cutting-edge foundries and large-part production facilities in Europe, which was officially opened for operation on August 19, 1985.
In his speech, President of the Tübingen administrative district Hermann Strampfer stressed the significance of the Amstetten site for the region: "The Amstetten site plays an important role for the labor market and, therefore, the attractiveness of the Alb-Donau district. With trainees making up around eight percent of the total workforce, the site is clearly committed to the professional development of many young adults."
Bernhard Schreier, CEO of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, focused on the slogan "25 years of expertise and innovation" in his speech: "It is not just the Amstetten site that is shaped by expertise and innovation - these values form the driving factors of the Group as a whole. Our qualified and motivated staff ensure that printing has a future."
Site Manager Thorsten Kirchmayer, whose 25th company anniversary coincided with the site's own celebration, focused in particular on the site's competitive edge: "Back in 1985, we had built the plant in Amstetten with the future in mind. In the last 25 years, we have driven forward the expansion and modernization of the plant with investments amounting to some 200 million Euro. We have continued to develop over the years, increasing our productivity and cost-effectiveness and improving our quality."
