Press release from the issuing company
Zaandam, The Netherlands – The iPad app of AUTO BILD, published by Axel Springer, is now available in Apple's App Store. Axel Springer AG is one of Europe's leading multimedia corporations with an integrated offering of print, online and Web TV products.
The iPad edition of Europe's largest car magazine is published weekly on Thursday evenings, just before the printed magazine hits the newsstand. It offers the entire content of the printed magazine, as well as some additional features, including slideshows with large-format images. Audio and video elements also allow the readers to experience new and classic cars in a stunning, multimedia-based way.
The comprehensive reviews, including detailed market overviews and additional content, are integrated by scrollable elements and hotspots in a clear and reader-friendly manner. Thanks to the support of HTML5, the crossword puzzle can be played directly from the app. One of the most appealing features of the iPad edition is the car configurator. Created with hotspots, the app allows readers to design their dream car, with elements such as the desired color and special rims.
A multimedia dream car experience thanks to the multichannel publishing system Enterprise
"AUTO BILD runs on all media channels with full throttle and offers readers the opportunity to experience the cars in an outstanding way," said Tanja Stratmann, project director of New Media Car, Computer & Sport at Axel Springer. "On the iPad, we combine a wealth of information and service with video and interactive elements into a new multimedia offering. The Digital Magazine Tools of WoodWing are a great support for the editorial team to create the weekly iPad issue of Europe's biggest car media brand."
Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software, said, "The iPad app of AUTO BILD is an impressive example of how an iPad app can present even complex content in a very clear, reader-friendly and attractive way. The app of AUTO BILD is for us, in many ways, a special project."
During the creation of the iPad app, the AUTO BILD team was assisted by the Hamburg-based ProPublish AG, a leading WoodWing system integrator and WoodWing Gold Authorized Solution Partner. Patrick Natasadu, sales manager at ProPublish AG, said, "Given the wide range of diverse types of content – ranging from long articles with a variety of photos and additional information to comprehensive market overviews – the design of the iPad app of AUTO BILD was a very challenging project. Furthermore, the timeframe was very tight, since the app had to be available at the Paris Motor Show. We are pleased that together with the AUTO BILD team, we were able achieve that very impressive result."
Each week, AUTO BILD informs its readers about the most important trends and news related to the car market. Driving reports and comparative tests provide the reader with practical recommendations for the purchase of new and used cars. The printed magazine reaches an audience of about 40 million readers every month.
